What begins as a feel-good-human-interest story turns into a mystery, then a tragedy, and ultimately an outrage.

I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.

I really enjoy campy schlock type movies for how silly and bad they are to watch. This one just can't get a handle to be campy or serious which causes me to not even bother watching or to care who dies or who Lives! You then have a real interesting turn of events with the intro of piranha sized bull sharks, that could have been interesting! Alas it was not to be. Too much info too little too late..Agony Too Watch!

Brought onboard a top-secret project, a scientist joins the floating aquatic platform where the true nature of the procedure takes place where they soon realize that their test sharks have become far more intelligent and turn on everybody there, forcing them to find a way to get away alive. For the most part, this was a somewhat disappointing and unremarkable effort. The main issue with this one is that there's the unmistakable feeling of familiarity present here as the film is essentially a remake of the original and really renders a lot of the antics here quite moot due to that. The storyline here is essentially the same thing, involving a scientist brought to a top-secret research project in the middle of the ocean where they learn of a plan to alter a shark's behavior through genetic research. When they get stuck in the facility and the entire group becomes trapped inside, they realize they've got super-intelligent killer sharks on their hands that behave much differently than traditional sharks which forces them to have to find a way to survive the dangerous beings. That is a complete rip-off of the original and even forces this one into ripping off many of the same sequences verbatim as that tends to raise so much awareness of the situation taking away the surprise from the situation. As well, there's also the overly obvious feeling of being done on a cheap without a whole lot to really offer in terms of its budget. That starts with the CGI present, which is completely atrocious and full of the usual low-budget nature that's usually found in these films as they never once really interact with their environment or shake off that digitized look so common to the genre. On top of that, the shrunken size of the lab, the continuous shooting in the narrow corridors that never once look like a facility layout of this type or the general air of the film which manages to just give off this closed-off feeling of a low-budget set without really laying any kind of traditional high-quality setup throughout here. On top of that, the film also commits the cardinal sin of low-budget fare by stalling for time with out-of-place speeches to help eat up plenty of time without doing anything special, and together these here really lower this one. When this one manages to work, a lot of that comes from the expected areas in a killer shark movie. That lies in the attacks presented here which feature some fine brutality, from the opening attack on the illegal fishermen where they first display the enhanced intelligence, the first sequences of the creatures getting loose as the chain-wave of action that starts the flooding process is quite fun and to the sharks launching their attacks in order to keep them trapped which gives this some solid action at times here. With the second half offering up a near non-stop series of attacks against the dwindling crew, this provides the odd suspenseful moment or so as well as getting some nice gore mixed in which helps to make this somewhat enjoyable giving it a solid pace in the best moment possible. With a finale that generates plenty of action and some thrilling attacks throughout here mixed with some nice surprises along the way, there are some nice elements at play here which manage to make it watchable even with all the flaws holding it down.Rated R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Billionaire and scientist Carl Durant (Michael Beach) trains Bull Sharks to be more intelligent and this is to keep ahead of AI with the intention that the serum he feeds to the sharks will be used for humans to avoid machines taking over in the future. He fancies himself as a Visionary. He also takes the serum himself. He hires Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) to help him understand the Bull Shark's behavior. She tells him that Bella his prize Bull Shark is pregnant. Oh, oh!So you thought JAWS was scary? Well this one has its moments, too. And with CGI now in the mix, the sharks really look very real and menacing. Of course, you just know things will go wrong and there will be a shark frenzy and who will survive? Here's the kicker: As the scientists talk and argue among themselves we see an eye in the window listening to everything being said. Who is that eye? Bella, of course. She is becoming or actually is now more intelligent and doesn't like what she sees and hears. Hmmmm.............Things go south when gas cans topple into the waters and here we go.............. And Bella bangs into the structure and produces a herd of baby Bull Sharks and no one is safe now as the structure begins to collapse everywhere, and the in-fighting among all breaks out and we almost morph into a horror story. Almost, but not quite, but there are moments. (You keep saying that)The acting all around is good and the suspense and tensions are also good. Most of these actors are relatively unknown and we are not sure who will survive, but we know Misty will....... also because she is the one showing the most cleavage. The photography and editing are also very good. Now the big question: Will there be sequels? Probably because humans need to be smarter than the machines everyone thinks will take us over. And, yes, because Shark stories are in, don't you know? (7/10)Violence: Yes. Sex: No. Nudity: No. Humor: Not really. Language: Yes, some not much. Rating: B

The acting was atrocious all around. I wanted all of the characters to die. The plot had so many holes, the script was likely written by a middle school student, and the set was obviously low budget. I made the mistake of watching it before looking at the IMDB rating. After the torturous hour and a half, I looked on IMDB, saw the 3.2 rating (which is generous), and then saw that the channel "SyFy" had purchased the movie. Oh my, that's worse than straight to DVD. If you are looking for a good shark movie, don't waste your time with this one. The sharks don't really get enough screen time.
