I seriously thought of rating this full stars when I started seeing this anime but around halfway everything went wrong for me. The anime is truly a battle between two great and intelligent minds who want to kill each other. The episodes are all thrilling to watch and I personally loved it but around the second half one of the centre character dies and are replaced but two other who couldn't fill his gap completely. That's the sole reason I didn't give full stars. It's still a must watch anime if you ask me.

I don't understand how this movie can have so high reviews even though it's so crap. People say this movie was so enjoyable when I really don't see how. Even for a 2006 movie the CGI is terrible. In one scene in particular, Light finds the death note even though it's pouring rain, its dark, and he nearly died just a few minutes ago. Also, the book is black, SO HOW WOULD HE NOTICE IT? Another scene in where he is first using the death note on a criminal, it says it takes about 30 seconds for it to kill someone. Yet, when he writes his name in the book, he dies instantly. Plenty more of these type of scene problems really bug me throughout the movie like how instead of his dad just leaving police stuff on the computer so Light can kill random criminals through the police database, apparently in this movie, he's a super teenage hacker that can hack in to a police database. A POLICE DATABASE! Just think about that for a minute. A random teenage boy can hack a high-tech police database. You could just say that he's super smart because of the Asian schools, but the police went to those same schools so what happened? Also, the acting feels like an anime instead of a movie which is not how you make an adaptation from anime to movie.The sets are okay and the casting is fine, but when mostly everything is fine and the bad stuff is really bad then you really enjoy it much. I would talk about all the things I hate about this movie, but I would have to spoil it a lot so I will leave my opinion to stand.

As a fan of both the manga and anime, I was surprised at how well this movie turned out. Live action movies often ruin the brilliance of the cartoons because real life is, well, real life. Ryuk was done quite well. Using animation made him look unreal, but he was a god of death from another dimension, so it made sense that he shouldn't look like part of our world.The movie stayed true to the plot of the manga for the first half. When it started straying, I thought, "Oh drat. Here comes the awfulness." Instead, I was wowed at the brilliant maneuvering in changing Naomi's part in the story while still keeping parts from the original. Movie adaptions that stray from their original stories annoy me, but this one pulled it off wonderfully.And that ending. L mocking Light with the bag of chips. Brilliant.

I want to find some thing more amazing than this ....till now i found nothing.This series is the only reason i started watching series thanks to my friend who advised me to watch it.As of now i watched it 8 times ...every time i watch it i like it even more... I think watching this series is the best thing that i did in my life. My friend told me to watch it then i thought it might be just a normal anime but i was wrong. I watched all the episodes continuously, may be i forgot to blink my eye while watching this what an amazing series it was!!!!
