There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

This was a entertaining film keeps you in your toes the whole time. A sharp thriller with some good ideas and a great turn at the end! Reminded me of Ransom in parts but not as polished but still good! Good chemistry between the actors but what do you expect from the trio! I liked the way it was filmed and the whole vibe. For sure see this one when you have chance.A neat thriller that keeps you in the whole time.I did not hear much on this film but glad I caught it.I think it was marketed badly because I never heard of it till on Amazon! Anyone who likes a taught thriller will like this.

I don't get it, why cant people treat a movie like a movie. Its all about entertainment. This was a perfect entertainer movie. Don't nit pick, get too detail oriented and too realistic. 1) Great plot , great suspense, holds you on till the end 2) Love the ending! 3) The star cast is super, great work by Gerard, Maria and Pierce. Solid performance 4) Amazing direction, on the run through out the movie. The rush of emotions and fear was amazingly directed 5) The less you know about the movie the more you will enjoy I enjoyed the movie thoroughly.Must watch !

BUTTERFLY ON A WHEEL is one of those twisty-turny thrillers that lives for its next revelation. Unfortunately, it's also a fairly predictable piece of film-making, content to act as a weak reimagining of THE GAME for the most part, with a little bit of DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE thrown in. In essence, Gerard Butler and Maria Bello are the happily married couple who find themselves at the mercy of a sinister kidnapper, played by Pierce Brosnan. My first thought was that Brosnan can't play a villain, and I was right; he's way too sympathetic to be even slightly intimidating. The other characters aren't much better, either; Bello seems to be repeating her role from A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, to diluted effect, while Butler is too gung-ho and action man-y to convince as the trapped and hounded family guy (he was much more effective as the villain himself in LAW ABIDING CITIZEN).We're left with a film that keeps you watching, although it can hardly be called entertaining. Most of the time, the twists are so well choreographed, and Brosnan's character is so calculating, that you can predict what will happen long before it actually does. This type of film has been done too many times to really create much impact these days, and William Morrissey's script doesn't have the oomph that it needs to truly shock or provoke. Add in indifferent direction and you have a rather bland and forgettable movie; nice to see THE X-FILES' Nicholas Lea in a supporting role, though.

Radio Times online gave just two stars and only the skimpiest of plot lines as their review, when I saw it was going to be shown on BBC3.Having never heard of director Mike Barker (he's done a couple of episodes of Silent Witness; yes he's British) didn't inspire me but Pierce Brosnan surely must, right?Against-the-clock ransom movies don't really do it for me and when they're flashily directed, they're usually covering up a bad or non- existent plot. Brosnan is fairly nasty all the way through - we've all seen nastier, but then they've been death-row psychopaths and this does begin to grate a bit. Gerard Butler and Mario Bello play the requisite distraught couple whose young daughter is the pawn in this increasingly sinister cat-and-mouse game.It becomes obvious that the motive is far beyond mere money and whilst the motives get even more hazy, an unseen and (for once) believable outcome prevails.Laziness probably stopped me from turning it over at times when it was just loud and angry but, like a few reviewers here, I'm gently satisfied with the end result. The film won't do anything for either Brosnan's or Butler's career, though it might well for the rest.
