Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

... View MoreI enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

... View MoreI'm sure in light of all the little criticisms, whatever, from Ebert or others, the writer here has got all the angles, plot points covered. Much like a film I wrote, Seeking Justice was a film that had me from the start, involving a guy who's bumped off, which made me recollect that scene in Color Of Night, where a pushed car goes off the roof of a car park. Seeking Justice is a thoroughly entertaining film, where if you had to work out all the why's, how's, what's, if's, you'd wrack your crazy, and wouldn't be able to enjoy this movie at all. If you even did that after this movie, you'd go nutso. I love the interesting path this story takes, where more layers of it, develop. Nicholas's Cage's beautiful wife (Jones) who very much looked like that hot chick from Roadhouse 2 is raped by this podgy A list scumbag. She's beaten up pretty bad, evoking quite a rage in our Will (Cage, who plays dramatic roles really good) He's approached by Simon, (yes that's Guy Pearce, again in solid form, bald and all, outshining Cage, sorry Nic). This menacing stranger, offers Will a chance to exact revenge, by giving him a green light to have this scumbag killed. Apparently, Simon knows where he lives. It's a go, and the scumbags' killed. Now what begins, on what is such a painfully predictable path, is that Simon wants something in return, so I'll leave it there, as I really want to give away the story. Cage is really good, Jones is beautiful, but like I said, Pearce knocks it out the ball park, with easily the best performance in the film. Though not without faults, this straight to DVD pic absorbs the viewer the more the movie progresses. I quite enjoyed this one, Cage doing a few straight to DVD, must watch pics around this time. He is a highly criticized actor, nominated for Raspberry awards he just shouldn't be nominated for. He's always good and never disappoints, no matter the project. He's a really good actor, cause he's a brave actor, and will take it all the way. Just go back through his filmography to Valley Girl, where there he showed the same uninhibited bravado. The lead up to climactic finish in this supercharged film is thrilling and exciting. What's I really liked about Seeking Justice, is you don't know what surprise, the next opening door will bring or will take you, but primarily the exciting surrounding set up; thick plotting of story concerning character's motivations.
... View MoreThe film has an interesting premise: a man in distress agrees to have the man who raped his wife killed and is then blackmailed into killing a man he is told is a sex offender. After trying to warn the man he is supposed to kill, the man dies trying to fight Nicolas Cage's character off. Cage is later arrested and is helped to escape after a police officer after he repeats a phrase that is a code used by the organisation blackmailing him.The performances by the cast are OK, nothing Oscar-worthy. Editing and cinematography are competent but also lack anything special. The filmmaking is fairly standard: it is technically well made but it feels like a re-tread of previous films, it lacks any creativity. In the end of the film it is revealed that the police officer who helped him escape was a member of the same organisation but in a different faction. I understand the filmmakers preferred to stick to the main character's struggles but it would have made it a lot more interesting if the organisation itself was explored. There are clearly factions within the group. The groups origins, how they knew who the rapist was, if they are active in cities other than New Orleans etc would have, in my opinion, made the film a little more interesting.Overall, this is not by any means a great film. It is not a terrible film either. The idea was good but the film has a lot of room for improvement. Edit: I have rescored this film 5/10 rather than 6/10. After some thought I concluded that 6/10 was a little too generous considering the film is weak and that a 6/10 is an overall positive score whereas I'm pretty much indifferent to it. (04/09/16)
... View MoreThis movie surprised me, since many people claim that Cage only has "bad" films. This one is actually quite good. In fact, I was about to give it an 8, but due a few bad actors I couldn't.I think Cage acted good in this film. The story is easy to follow, so no brain cracking mysteries that make you think by the end of the film "what the hell happened." I really can't stand complex endings. In easy words, it's an enjoyable thriller about a guy who's wife gets raped. In the hospital, this strange guy in a suit does this proposal to kill the rapist for him. As he agrees with doubts, it soon turns out he needs to kill other people for him to repay this civic organization who "seek justice". Of course, he doesn't want to kill people and asks the same guy to get out of his life. If only it was that simple...
... View More(34%) A very by the numbers, far from great, and rather quite silly offering featuring poor old Nic Cage paying off his tax bill, that really does beg the question: just how crippling was it in the first place? This though is just about entertaining enough for a simple, late-night watch; but there just isn't anything up this movie's sleeve to make it a memorable or worthy a repeat watch. With its very B-movieish plot that really lacks both spark and any sort of intelligence, along with a real lack of tension or any trace of believability. This is a better watch than 2011's terrible Trespass, but Nic still deserves better than this.
