Brain Dead Trailers

A sleepy fishing port town is consumed with terror when a small crater crash-lands nearby and releases a slimy parasitic agent that transforms the residents into brain-eating zombies. Cornered in an abandoned fishing lodge, six strangers are forced to band together to stave off the blood-sucking monsters clawing the walls outside.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Here we go again: A motley assortment of colorful characters stumble across an abandoned fishing lodge in the middle of nowhere in the woods of Hicksville, USA. The group find themselves in considerable jeopardy from a zombie outbreak caused by a parasitic alien goo. Okay, so the story is far from original, but fortunately director Kevin S. Tenney (who blessed us with "Witchboard" and "Night of the Demons" back in the 80's) and writer Dale Gelineau ably capture both the blithely trashy feeling of pure fun and the infectiously loopy vitality of vintage 80's down'n'dirty low-budget indie fright fare: We've got a constant zippy pace, huge gobs of gloriously excessive over-the-top graphic gore, a wickedly funny sense of deliciously irreverent humor (the dialogue in particular is quite witty and often hilariously profane), lively and exciting zombie attack set pieces, an engaging tongue-in-cheek tone, affectionate nods to such 80's cult faves as "The Evil Dead" and "Return of the Living Dead," funky special effects, and, naturally, a generous sprinkling of tasty gratuitous female nudity. Moreover, the game cast have a field day with the wacky material, with especially praiseworthy contributions from Joshua Benton as likable smartaleck Clarence Singer, Sarah Grant Brendecke as the sassy Sherry Morgan, David Crane as vicious psycho hoodlum Bob Jules, Michelle Tomlinson as scrappy and abrasive lesbian Claudia Bush, Andy Forrest as the smarmy and cowardly Reverend Farnsworth, Cristina Tibera as foxy bimbo Amy Smoots, and Elizabeth Lambert as the ditsy Candy. Noted Grade B flick director Jim Wynorski has a nifty sizable supporting role as a good ol' boy sheriff. The snazzy cinematography by Alex Simon and Patrick McGowan boasts plenty of clever scene transitions. Kudos are also in order for Dennis Michael Tenney's twangy and dynamic score and the gnarly old school practical make-up f/x. A total schlocky hoot.

Cornered in an abandoned fishing lodge, six strangers are forced to band together to stave off the blood-sucking monsters clawing the walls outside.I get a little worried when you have a horror film from a known director (Kevin Tenney, "Witchboard" and "Night of the Demons") and it takes three years to go from film festival to DVD. I get the impression that it must be pretty bad if companies are not willing to take a chance on a man who is known to have a winning streak in his past. Does my apprehension have basis in reality? Well, the film is great at what it does, let us say that. Cheesy? Oh, yes. But the gore is amazing, very much in the splatter tradition of Lamberto Bava's "Demons". This film does not take itself seriously, but I think that is its strength, because the low budget does not give it the ability to be too serious. Tenney approached this the right way.Amy is very, very sexy with a cute face and the seductive hairstyle that lures dirty old men. Her breasts are a bit large for my liking, but I am probably in the minority and I really probably should not complain at all -- what is a horror film without topless women? And there are topless and bottomless women... and the big breasts just keep bouncing (and floating). One cheesiness that could have been cleaned up was the tattoo on the convict... just not believable at all. No tattoo is that dark. But then, you get lines like, "My phone bill is higher than Whitney Houston", and it all seems okay.I would feel like I failed in my duty if I neglected to say this film has an obvious connection to "The Blob", with its villain being of a meteor origin. But the connection is weak, and it is neither an homage nor a ripoff.

I saw this at the GoreZone magazine Gore-Fest this weekend- in London (it was the UK premier-) i was looking forward to seeing this film- and although the title is ludicrously unoriginal - (most people will think it's Dead Alive/Brain Dead let's be honest!!) it didn't disappoint. Packed full of excellent splatter gore and comedic situations- and not taking itself too seriously- A breath of (not so) fresh air - and more than holds it's own in it's genre. Some great comedic acting from the felon reluctantly on the run handcuffed to a dim witted trigger happy psycho- and the eye candy cliché babes in distress also did well with tongue firmly in cheeks and totally self aware of their stereotype! I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Bad Taste, Brain Dead, Undead- and Kevin S. Tenneys previous works 'Night of the Demons' & 'Witchboard'. Enjoy.

It was cool to see a new movie from Kevin Tenney, director of some genre classics like Night of the Demons and Witchboard. I was excited when I saw his name on the credits, when I saw this at Rock and Shock last year. It is a fun cheesy movie with some awesome gore, but the plot and story are an exact copy of Slither and Night of the Creeps. Well, not exact, but close. It has aliens and worms and infected people, and so on. All in all, it is pretty good, but not as good as the director's previous works. In the beginning, as another person said, it has such an awesome gore scene. I hope it comes on DVD eventually. Just funny how there are a couple other movies with the same title haha.
