... View MoreJust watched it the first time and must say i expected worse. the plot is very simple and thin. two straight men stuck on a boat with only gay man. of couse the main character will find a straight girl on board and fall in love... everything is very predictable. a few of the jokes work but not many. i thing you must see it in the theater with lots of children around who giggle at any joke so laugh with them but watching it at home... well, its hard to give this movie a rating. some stuff might be a 6/10 but there are a lot of very bad jokes in there that pulls the whole movie down to a 5/10. with a better script or at least leaving the bad jokes out it could be at least a mediocre movie.
... View MoreCredit IMDb for the plot write up.Jerry and Nick are two best buddies whose love lives have hit rock bottom, Jerry's especially, having just vomited all over his fiancée on a hot air balloon trip prior to proposing to her. To escape their troubles and find women, they book a trip on board a cruise-liner, unaware the travel agent has just played a horrid trick on them in retaliation for Nick offending his secret gay lover. And that's the trick; it's a gay cruise-liner for gay men to meet and mingle. Slowly but surely, the two main characters begin to realize this and in turn get into a lot of humorous predicaments.I'm not saying Boat Trip is a successful movie, because it's not. It too often goes for the cheap humor, and forced laughs. But I did enjoy moments from this movie, a lot more than I expected. Cuba tries really hard to make the movie better than it should be, and often succeeds. It also helps he has a capable supporting cast around him. Boat Trip ranks around the average rating territory, and it's nowhere near as bad as people claim it to be. Funniest scene is when Sanz goes to make-out with a girl, but gets Shaye|The Gym Teacher| insteadPerformances. Cuba Gooding does remarkably well for the task he is given. Some of his actions when he's drunk are a bit over the top, but he does pretty well with the limited material. Horatio Sanz is funny and annoying at the same time. He works well with Cuba, and did his job well for the most part. Roselyn Sanchez is gorgeous to look at, while being charismatic as well. I quite liked her. Her chemistry with Cuba seemed natural too. Vivica A. Fox plays the typical know it all girlfriend without much substance. Maurice Godin is OK as the comical Gay Man. Roger Moore, Lin Shaye embarrass themselves. While Will Ferrell's cameo is rather silly.Bottom line. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. I laughed on several occasions. Cheap, vulgar, but an easy watch, if rather average. Worth a look on a slow-moving day.5/10
... View MoreSaw this on TV...I was about to rent it, but well...I'm glad that I didn't.I would have to cross the city, because there are no video rental stores in my neighbourhood and yeah...that sucks.Anyway...with movies like this, it's no wonder the gay and straight population will never really gel. This does nothing more than make fun of gay people and straight people. It certainly doesn't bring them together and make it more tolerable. This was retarded overall - with a few mild chuckles and that's about it.As I was too lazy to get up and change the channel or look for the remote control, I kept this on...while there could be worse, there could also be far better.
... View Moreto sum it up 'Boat Trip' is probably the worst film i've seen in years. Its difficult to start the a review when there is so much wrong with it. 'Boat Trip' documents the journey of 2 heterosexual friends who are obsessed with sex and girls and after one is rejected by his girlfriend after being sick on her, they decide to take a cruise to pull girls. However they are booked onto a gay cruise after insulting the travel agents boyfriend. The guys are unaware of this until there are at sea. soon a stranded dingy load of hot women are rescued from the water and Nick tries his best to hitch up with one of them whilst Jerry chases after a female dance teacher by pretending to be gay to get closer to her..and so on. There are several aspects wrong with this film: 1) casting 2) seemingly negative stereotypes 3) terrible humour and cliché's 4) extremely weak script and unimpressive cinematography. The main characters are played by actors that aren't seen more frequently in the cinema due to their terrible acting abilities. And i can only assume that the supporting roles including Roger Moore and Bob Gunton regret ever signing up to make this film because its done nothing for their acting reputations. None of the casting choices seem to suite their characters and can be really creepy at times. This film is full of stereotypes. The obvious one is the gay stereotype which is cringe worthy and seems as if it could be insulting. The heterosexual stereotype is also met in this film and is boring. The humour in this film is ridiculously awful and cliché, the sexual innuendo is overwhelming and gets boring after the first ten minutes. this type of humour would only be enjoyed by immature 13 year old boys. The script is equally terrible and seems to have no real direction and seems just to be a load of unconnected events which you tire of quickly. The script seems to have no social message or dramatic intent. The cinematography is pretty unimpressive and looks like they've just thrown the shots together without thinking about them-really nothing special.Oh and before i forget, the musical score seems cheap and lousy and becomes irritating. The film is an insult to gay people, heterosexual people and film makers alike. It really isn't worth the rental or purchase and its an hour and a half of your life you'll never get back. Don't waste your time watching this film as its mindless dribble thought up as a money making scheme rather than the sake of proper entertainment. This really is an awful film...save yourselves before its too late!
