BAS is a good FUN movie with no pretensions. Laugh out loud silliness is achieved without going too far over the top. A balancing act that is not easily pulled off.Big Ass Spider have a writer and director who are blessed with the ability to mix B-Grade movie ingredients together correctly. Decent CGI, great lead character, tongue-in-cheek direction and pure entertainment gives the audience what they want.Only people who take life way too seriously will not enjoy this film.So good on so many levels.

I have to say, out of 10 stars, a 7 is a good honest rating in my opinion as this was created by Mike Mendez and being the Beavis & Butthead director and storyline projector he created yet another experience on the screen which made me laugh out loud often and smile at partially funny scenes.Want a good quality comedy which is so non-serious, its a good film? See Big Assed Spider! If the title hasn't made you smile, then perhaps documentaries about watching grass grow is more exciting for you. This movie fits into the categories of films such as: Very bad things (Dark comedy), Serial Mom (Dark comedy), South Park, The movie (Comedy).

Big Ass Spider! is a freaking B-Movie !OK, I said it. You can pretty much guessed that because of the title, also, the way the movie starts, pretty much says it all. You're gonna see a freaking B-Movie and it's going to be awesome.Big Ass spider starts ultra-fast, it uses very little time to develop it's characters and do it in a fantastic way, you have to take into consideration that these are going to be one-dimensional characters, because this is a freaking B-Movie.Why I keep repeating this is very important because the director and producers actually tried very hard to make a good B-Movie out of this, so, this movie is plagued with cheesy lines, cameos, jokes about other monster movies and so on..There is more than one thing this director gets right about this movie but dialog and acting comes first and this is where the movie truly shines, from guys almost laughing at a scary scene to the hilarious duo of the exterminator and the Mexican who start talking in Spanish when is nervous and the incredible stupid soldiers that stands still waiting to be killed, this movie is hilarious. There are a couple of nice places lines and cameos, like imitating scenes from Aliens and calling stupid names on the soldiers. (Private Green, SO good). The feel good aspect of the movie really stands out, primary because all the people involved was working fully aware they were going to do a b- movie, so they intentionally acted weird, they almost laugh at scary scenes, they jump and screams and say things out of timing and yes, incredible as it is, it works and you can actually feel this guys are having a lot of fun!I watched it almost completely sure I was gonna hate it and I end up loving it.Perfect movie for watching with friends and having a few laughs, specially if you're old like me and remember the 80' movies, not recommended for the serious movie-goer who can't stand a cheesy movie.

I will keep this review short but sweet. This movie was cheesy as to be expected by the title, but it was hilarious and entertaining. The acting was on point, with many funny one liners, as well as some serious lines. Several well know actors... The exterminator and his security guard side kick volunteer Jose, provide plenty of laughs. Solid family entertainment. It's a Horror – Comedy that keeps your engaged. The CGI special effects were pretty good too. When you know what to expect from Big Ass Spider you should be pleased. It is what it is. The movie is a comedy/horror, campy type movie. Lots of laughs and a few creepy startling moments as well. I recommend the movie Big Ass Spider!
