When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

If it were possible to rate a film in Minus figures this would be a -10.We see our young "independent" Jen renting her first apartment and from then on it just gets beyond bad.She walks in loving the place, a power cut later and the apartment is freaking her out, she constantly has what i presume to be a external/internal dialogue with herself, she freaks out at the slightest thing before there is even anything to actually freak out about. her acting is woeful beyond belief. Her sister is just as bad, wooden, bland, uninteresting. Her Mum ditto. This whole movie reeks. The story premise isn't a bad one, it's just extremely poorly executed from the first scene to the last. Please, promise me, you will never make the mistake i did.Avoid this monstrosity at all cost.

I started watching this movie by accident and thought because Mischa and DeMornay were part of the cast that it would have potential - but I was sooo horribly wrong.I've made it through worse quality movies, the directing and writing weren't the most horrible I've sat through but Mischa Barton's acting was by far - the most appalling I've seen in a long, long time. Let's put it this way - you could put some of her acting/reading lines next to an untrained 5 year old and probably yield better results. AWFUL.DO not waste your time unless you want to poke fun at what terrible acting looks like. Then by all means, watch away. I do that from time to time with Mark Wahlberg in The Happening. LOL :)

I'm so confused to as why Mischa Barton is an actress. She was stilted and awkward. The girl that played her sister was just as terrible. Rebecca De Mornay was off as well (spoiler: her death scene was dumb). Corey Sevier wasn't bad in comparison to the rest, but it doesn't help that he's pretty good looking in my opinion. The little girl was creepy only because little girls are creepy. Another problem I had with the film was the super. He was definitely pervey. But why didn't Janet or Lara call the building owner or cops to complain? It wasn't scary at all which was probably the biggest disappointment. I think I could handle the bad acting if I had actually been scared.

Please be aware that this review does contain spoilers so if you don't want to know don't read!! Despite reading the reviews for this film I thought I'd give it a watch - I mean it had a couple of well known actresses so I thought how bad could it be. Well the answer was bad, during the first part of the film the girl Janet who has moved into the apartment was dire to watch. Her acting was awkward, unconvincing and bordered on cringe-worthy. The boyfriend, well I didn't understand what was with the undercover subplot that bared no relevance on the story. Rebecca De-Mornay and Mischa Barton seemed like they had completely forgotten how to act and delivered terrible performances. I persevered with the film past the first death in the hope that it may improve as the dynamic changed but it just didn't. The premise had been done before (obviously, it's a remake) but it had nothing that drew you into the story and make you care about the characters or their fate. The twist end was barely noticeable, parts didn't make much sense (why were the other ghosts haunting the floor?)and predictable as to what was going to happen with our protagonists. If you want to give it a go do so but take heed it is a dire film.
