The greatest movie ever made..!
... View MorePurely Joyful Movie!
... View MoreIt isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
... View MoreThis movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
... View MoreSo I was searching On Demand last night for a horror movie I haven't watched yet. I chose this flop. Thankfully it was free. It felt as though they ran too low on budget for retakes and post-production, and just threw it out there anyway to cut some losses. The WORST movie I watched in years. The acting, directing, piecing the scenes. One scene, Mischa is crying on the phone saying how creepy the apartment feels, when little has happened. Then, her sister sees the ghost of a girl in the bathtub with her, and the scene cuts to her nonchalantly strolling into the kitchen in her robe, no sign of distress. It's incredibly disjointed. The cast and crew must have to watch the finished product before release, right? How could they let this out???
... View MoreIf it were possible to rate a film in Minus figures this would be a -10.We see our young "independent" Jen renting her first apartment and from then on it just gets beyond bad.She walks in loving the place, a power cut later and the apartment is freaking her out, she constantly has what i presume to be a external/internal dialogue with herself, she freaks out at the slightest thing before there is even anything to actually freak out about. her acting is woeful beyond belief. Her sister is just as bad, wooden, bland, uninteresting. Her Mum ditto. This whole movie reeks. The story premise isn't a bad one, it's just extremely poorly executed from the first scene to the last. Please, promise me, you will never make the mistake i did.Avoid this monstrosity at all cost.
... View MoreI'm so confused to as why Mischa Barton is an actress. She was stilted and awkward. The girl that played her sister was just as terrible. Rebecca De Mornay was off as well (spoiler: her death scene was dumb). Corey Sevier wasn't bad in comparison to the rest, but it doesn't help that he's pretty good looking in my opinion. The little girl was creepy only because little girls are creepy. Another problem I had with the film was the super. He was definitely pervey. But why didn't Janet or Lara call the building owner or cops to complain? It wasn't scary at all which was probably the biggest disappointment. I think I could handle the bad acting if I had actually been scared.
... View MoreThere is a reason some remakes do not work (though I had no idea this was one, until I checked on IMDb to write this review). So while I can't compare this with the original, I know that the filmmakers saw something in it. And the idea is not bad at all. The movie itself sometimes also does have some nicely set up shots. You might even be scared once (or twice). But while you may be fond of the actors involved, this should not be included in their portfolio. Especially the scenes where they are talking to themselves. Not cool and not necessary and yet we find ourselves annoyed by it so many times. The script was either weak to begin with or they made it that way, whatever the case, this movie should be avoided
