In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Your blood may run cold, but you now find yourself pinioned to the story.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

it was unpredictable, and although the plot wasn't the most original, it was enjoyable. i think the reason many people are disappointed with it is because they had high expectations for it. if you plan on watching this movie - just watch it, don't think about it too much.oh, and for all the people saying that this is the worst horror movie ever made - you obviously haven't seen too many horror movies. in this genre, it's either utter s***, or the occasional gems like this one.

David (Mel Raido), Dana (Kate Beckinsale), and their son Lucas (Duncan Joiner) leave their New York apartment (?) for a Tudor in North Carolina. Dana has issues with the death of their new born, and is on medication...or not. In the home they discover a chifforobe blocking a hidden door which leads to the title room. It is a room where deformed children were kept locked up and hidden away. Dana has flashbacks and illusions. She sees a dog...or maybe its a Lycan? Oops sorry wrong film.Celia Weston plays a friendly shop owner which could have only been done better by Dee Wallace offering meat pies. I thought Marcia DeRousse was great as the librarian and she was going to get an expanded role replacing Zelda Rubinstein. Alas, the film didn't spin that way. The performances were good overall, but the plot was a me-too haunted house type film that should have taken the spotlight off a blonde Kate Beckinsale for a minute. How do you get a cat to calmly hold still for a bath? To me that was the most unbelievable thing in the film.Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
