This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

I grew up in the 80's and the OG Voltron was one of my go to shows back in the day. I even remember the other Voltron too, the one with the vehicles. I had both Voltron toys as well. Safe to say, I was a fan. This new show is everything it should and needed to be. It reintroduces Voltron to the kids of today, while properly paying homage to original show. The spirit of what made Voltron so popular in the 80's was kept well in tact. You have the same lion pilots (now called "paladins") but they are each given more of a backstory. Even the villains are more captivating, as they dive into their pasts and what motivates them to do what they do. The animation is stunning and Voltron itself does not disappoint. There is also more a season by season storytelling arc, as opposed to the old series, which was more episodic - team has to get the lions, robeast is sent, form Voltron, form blazing sword, strike, day is won. The new show managed to do the seemingly impossible - make the new series good like the old one was, while also doing something new, deeper and unlike what we've seen before in the franchise.I look forward to each new season, which thankfully are not very far apart. Highly recommend for any Voltron fans!

Around December, this show started filling up my Pinterest page. I had no idea what is was or what it was about. I ignored it and continued mainly watching The Walking Dead. And then, a major death occurred in TWD and it screwed me over so hard I had to take a break. You can't just kill my favorite character like that and expect me to be OK. I was like "screw this" and started looking for ANY other show to binge while I tried to emotionally stabilize myself. I saw Voltron and was like "OK, I'll try it." It being a Netflix show, I didn't expect much from Voltron, but it seriously surprised me. I love story, the humor made me laugh, and the characters are really well written. Of course, it has its flaws (all shows do), but I seriously love this show. I've always loved cartoons like The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, and I was so happy to find another that was as good as they were. Can't wait for the next season!!!!

I loved this series a lot! I have never watched the original series (although some people have taken to posting some of the more cringe-worthy moments online which are very entertaining), but I think that as a new fan, I was able to experience this in a much better and fresher way than an old fan?I didn't have a lot of information going in, only knowing that it had blown up on the internet despite only having been released for a month, but I spent the entire night watching as much as I could, and it was fantastic! The humor, while sometimes immature (or sometimes very adult-like, things able to fly over kids heads but make adults wonder about the connotation of the joke), was extremely enjoyable! As a big fan of Tim Hendricks and his work in the Avatar universe, I can safely say that this is another great work that perfectly balances action, humor, and emotion and is most definitely up to the Avatar universe level. Although I'd say that while I do love the animation for Voltron, I do find some of the main character's designs very awkward, mostly only in the face (Lance has a chin pointier than a nail, and Hunk's face is like 45% jaw). The show was kind of slow in the beginning, but I think given the amount of time the writers had, they effectively set up the universe. They had really only gone through about three arcs, but they all transitioned fluidly, and the story-telling skills was again amazing. Not to mention the representation is kind of great? Like really great. Four out of the seven main cast are poc (Although many speculate Keith possibly being Korean or Japanese, which would put the show at five out of seven). While the department of women is severely lacking, especially up to Avatar's level, the women are all empowered and serve very important roles. Props to Tim Hendrick, Joaquim Dos Santos, Lauren Montgomery, and the entire cast for bringing this great show to life! Lance is definitely my favorite, but Hunk is a close second!

I finally watched this after receiving rave reviews from a friend, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, especially as I haven't seen any other version of the show. As expected of the makers of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra! The characters are all based on certain tropes, but are pretty well-written and watching their interactions was fun. I enjoyed the Shiro-Pidge relationship and their backstories in particular. The only things I can gripe about is that the antagonists are awfully one-dimensional in their personalities and motives, but this is nothing the second season can't fix. Each episode moved smoothly into the next and the pacing was excellent. I binge-watched the whole show in two days. Also, the animation was impressive and the fight scenes in particular were well done (something you can't say about a lot of anime nowadays).Sometimes it felt a little cheesy, sure, but this is a kids' show, and that added to the charm for me. The show simultaneously dealt with adult themes such as Shiro's PTSD well, portraying it realistically as well as the consequences it has on the character.I'm surprised by how invested I got in it. Can't wait for season 2!
