it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

I liked this series when I was around 10 years old. It was good but I wasn't my favourite. I had to admit the show certainly had it moment but it couldn't outdo other shows currently showing during that period! But it certainly does bring some fond memories. It had to remember what the story was about but I was about forest creatures, I presume. The animation wasn't state of art but the voices were well done. I thought that "Run with Us" end credits song was slightly unnecessary which dragged the production down but other than that, it was good. Wouldn't be that fuss to bring it back to terrestrial television though because I prefer some other shows to this. 6/10

This was a series with great voices, great music, great animation and great stories. In short, a wonderful classic cartoon. My favourite characters were Bert and Cyril, probably because they got the most development (although all the characters changed a bit over time). It's unfortunate that its DVD release seems to have stopped, but on the bright side, it'll probably be shown again in Canada when Teletoon starts its own Retro channel in spring 2007. And right now it's showing on Boomerang in the UK.The general opinion is that it went down a bit in quality towards the end, but even those episodes are still very enjoyable. The earlier, first season, and specials, were more exciting because they focused more on the raccoons fighting against Cyril Sneer's industrialism, rather than on the characters' moral dilemmas and social problems like the later ones. The music and animation was also better in the early ones.BTW, just to clarify, it was actually an English-Canadian cartoon, not French-Canadian.

First of all, I must say that I love this show. I have since I was 3, and I always will. Being born in 1992, I got to see the best of late 1980s television, and this just happened to be one of those shows. My mother says that I rarely watched The Raccoons, but I can very well recall seeing many episodes. "The Evergreen Grandprix" and "Blast From The Past" come to mind.Another thing I really like about the show is the fact that they made their own music and songs. 98% of all episodes featured a very well done musical number. The theme song is very good as well, having an original sound. The Raccoons was the first TV series produced entirely with in Canada, and managed a successful six year run from 1985 to 1991. All Canadians should be proud! I sure am!The last time I managed to see The Raccoons on national television would have been in July, 2002, around 7:30am or so on APTN. Since then, I haven't seen it anywhere since then. I now own both DVD box sets, and they were both worthy investments. Recommended!

'The Raccoons' was one of my fave cartoons ever. Many of the episodes were great fun to watch, and Cyril Sneer made an excellent villain. My fave character bar none was and always has been Bert Raccoon, he just steals the show every time with his accident-prone antics! Many of the supporting characters do the show great justice too and the animation is well done for the time. It still looks nice today. The theme music is still as great as it was too.Overall a very well executed series which has deservedly made DVD in Canada and the USA. All it needs now is a DVD release in the UK as well!
