It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

This show caught my attention on Netflix because Kyra Sedgwick is so peculiar in the first season I had to see it through. Watching her eat her ding dong in episode 1 = the same in season 1's finale, and in conjunction with her character showing what I consider some dynamic acting ability in becoming Brenda the flake who may border on genius in her job lacks in the personal relations department tremendously. After 3 seasons though I think it is a good show that I'm assuming will grow since it ran for as many seasons as it did. I will likely update this review when I've seen the whole series as who knows where it might land. If each season simply plods along where we are I will downgrade my rating as there is plenty of room for growth. But how they achieve it will determine that and I have to experience it to rate it.So far I think the show is good and has moments of showing potential for better but will just have to hope to enjoy the ride as I watch the rest of the seasons (hopefully!). But if your pondering watching it, do so, it is what having Amazon Prime worth the money (getting to watch the prime video movies and shows for a price competitive with Netflix but higher quality and more dependable).Grain of salt. Amazon took the show off Prime just after writing this, so... no idea where the show led to.

i'm not proud to admit that, until 7/16/12, i was a"closer junkie." everything about the show appealed to me: the acting, writing, plot-twists and subtle humor had me looking forward to these final 6 episodes but sorry that this excellent show was leaving the air. after this past Monday night...good riddance. this last episode was poorly written, sophomoric, and an insult to the (previous to this) fine cast. typically, Monday night was the only night i watched a show, read for a bit, then watched it again. Monday's episode was so bad, i turned it off half-way through. i won't be returning to watch the last 4 ...would rather remember it as it was.

"The Closer" is a terrific show with a terrific star, terrific supporting cast, and terrific stories. Little else to be said.Kyra Sedgwick is Brenda Leigh Johnson, who comes to Los Angeles from Atlanta to run the Priority Homicide Division. At first, the men under her aren't happy and don't want her there. Brenda, however, is very gifted in not only figuring out cases but getting confessions, combining a sweet, smiling Southern style with toughness when she doesn't get what she wants. Soon, the very men who resented her are her biggest champions. The cast includes G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, J.K. Simmons, Tony Reynolds, and Robert Gossett. Jon Tenney plays Fritz, Brenda's love interest who later becomes her husband. Each character has his own well-fleshed out personality and work together beautifully as an ensemble. The stories are excellent, but for me, it's Sedgwick who makes this show. Brenda always acts frazzled, but when she gets down to business, she's right on target. She eats junk food -- in fact, at an apartment that's a murder scene, she starts eating the candy she finds and goes back for more. She dresses like she buys her clothes at the Salvation Army. Her house is a mess. She's human. Excellent show.
