Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

This show is quite boring. SG-1 is way better. There are three main problems - boring, bland characters that just don't fit the situation (Teyla, Ronon), lack of motivation for the expedition after the first season and the Wraith. The whole Wraith/Lantean war is just a super-massive plot hole and it forced the writers to downgrade the Lantean technology level, which took away any awe + it completely ruined any possible resolution of the central plot. What's more : the capability of some key technologies is downgraded between the seasons - Atlantis can communicate with 3 million ly distant Earth in season 1, but it can not reach about (at most) 50 000 ly distant ship by season 5 - without any explanation. They are desperate to steal some ZPMs from the Replicator home world in season 4, ep.2, yet they steal none when they get there again 10 episodes later. And they can beam soldiers down there, yet they had to use missiles to nuke the home world 12 episodes before that - why not just beam the nukes? Too many idiot plots. You get my point... The Goa'uld had charisma, the Wraith lack that (mostly). The first season was quite good, season 2 was average and the rest is just....good for treating insomnia. The target audience is likely 8 - 12. SG-1 always had something for all ages - and it had far better cast, characters and enemies.

Obvious plot holes, sub-par CGI, some problems with continuity, issues with how the military handles their respective positions that had me rolling my eyes and mumbling under my breath.Whew. In the name of honesty, those are the reasons why I'm not giving the show a 10/10. Incredible acting, and despite the plot holes, the story is built up to perfection, with season finales that have you gripping your seat (And mumbling at the TV). Or netflix, in my case. It's an incredible show. If you haven't watched it, do yourself a favor: Watch it. The lead actors are compelling and likable, the villains are villainous without being cliché. Even though the CGI isn't the best, it isn't bad enough to distract you from the spectacular story.

------"may" contain spoilers------I have several issues with this TV series, the idea is great, but there are so many details that the creators didn't even bothered to consider or to think about, maybe it could have been too expensive for them? or they just wanted to make a cheesy TV series to make some money! how come, aliens from another galaxy speak in English with American accent? how come they have the same sort of plants and clothes? here on earth two neighbor countries speak a completely different language and have different culture. even the evolution, if the size of the moon or the mass of the earth was different we could have evolved in a different way, yet on this very earth we can see so many versions of evolution, how come creatures from another galaxy evolved in the same freaking way?! they even drink coffee! cheesy acting, bad special effects, cheaply made.

I watch this TV series over and over. The actors and the writers have done a fantastic job as well as the production side in the themes and design of the Atlantis Galaxy. What amazes me about this series is the fact my entire family enjoy watching it. It has an awesome form of comedy throughout especially what is expressed by the core actors John Sheppard and Rodney McKay as well as the characters of Tayla and Ronon. There are many interesting and unique characters and the guest actors such at Todd the Wraith were also top-notch. Like all Stargate TV shows it borrows ideas form other SCI-FI but it integrates them extremely well in this series. If I had a wish it would be that it had a 7 year cycle instead of finishing after 5 years. The seasons had great openings and endings, and I really think only a few of the episodes were "filler" episodes.
