In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

This is by far one of the best series I have seen come out in a long time. I couldn't wait for each episode to air. Now I hear that it is being cancelled after just one season. This is too bad as there is no other series I have found like it or that can compare to it. The characters are real and not some fake stuff that you can't believe in. I got invested in all the characters and their lives. The acting in it I thought was great. Octavia Spencer was outstanding and gave real emotion to her part. The rest of the cast also put in outstanding performances. This is what any children's ward should look like with the patients banding together and helping each other through their hard times. It's sad that ABC and Fox couldn't come to an agreement to continue the series.

What an unexpected treasure! In a world of lowest common denominator television, this show has surprised me with the quality of writing, acting and stories that capture the complexity of life. Laid on the foundation of life in a long term care ward, these stories go quickly into matters that matter...life, death, relationship, meaning, our own relevance as human beings. The writers seem to have clear insight into the inner life of teens; while many teen shows still stay in the Miley Cyrus era of smart mouth conversation or more superficial focuses, Red Band takes us deeper. There's something about having a boy in a coma offering us a wiser view from the near heavenly realms, teens who are multi-faceted in their strengths and vulnerabilities, and a likable cast who all seem to have heart and soul, contradictory motivations, and complexity, that places this show heads and shoulders above the rest.As an over-40 year old viewer, I find the dramas and the ways in which they are expressed in each show compelling. The things these teens wrestle with... am I REALLY OK...am I acceptable...lovable... do I fit in, are the same issues that drive much adult behavior. Only in this show, they are refreshingly transparent and somehow find the middle ground between sappy and satirical. Fox, for the first time in quite awhile, i am engaged with a show and a cast. Please keep this show! And please market it better... I think you'd have a LOT more fans if people actually saw commercials that captured the essence of the show.

I absolutely LOVE this show! I especially enjoyed it as the topic of the show is unlike anything else on TV at the moment. Each of the patients are just ordinary people and gives you perspective of things. It was completely enjoyable and uplifting but with moments of reflection and teary-eyedness, and is definitely 100% worthy of been given a chance. I pray they don't cancel this. New favourite show!!!I honestly think it was one of the best light-hearted and decent shows i've seen. The topic of patients in a hospital hints at the seriousness of their problems but shows it in a fun way. I love the way they portrayed the child in the coma too. Hope it succeeds!!!!!

I've watched the pilot episode 4 times already. Octavia Spencer is fantastic and all the kids work so well. I love the narrator. I hope his storyline plays out happily. The only thing that bugged me is the kid who's apparently gone through tons of chemotherapy(and is bald) still has eyebrows like Colin Farrell. I'm not generally a stickler for realism in my entertainment but some errors are just TOO glaring. After reading the IMDb page and seeing the cast list, it looks like I'll be missing some characters (like Wilson Cruz's nurse). I already like at least half the people in the show and hope Fox won't pull the plug early (like they've done to so many other promising shows).
