The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

You would think Netflix would have someone that can make a half decent fight choreography. Fight scenes are worst than kids in schoolyard

I knew nothing of this show and especially didn't know it was derived from a comic. I would see the title and keep going and I did so for about a year. The other night, nothing else was on and I selected it and I promise I binge-watched Season 1 and 2. LOL. Season 1 was decent and I was watching intensely because the 1st season sets the stage. It was interesting in that I read the comic is from back in the 70's but I love how the show reveals a modern adaptation of the comic. It works and it is refreshing. It isn't too outlandish in that you don't have people that are half person/half animal type stuff going on. There are some lines that are corny or cheesy but I accept it because it keeps the nostalgia of the dialogue from comics. I mean..it can be pretty cheesy at times. Season 2 was FIRE!!! My favorite being Bushmaster. Mustafa Shakir embodied that character so much it was crazy. I kept saying Bushmaster wants Mariah Dillard, oh I mean Mariah Stokes..(LOL) he wanted to kill her so bad he was bloodthirsty for her. I love the stories within stories. Misty and her issues, Luke and his issues, Tilda and her issues, Shades and his issues and so on and so forth. There are many layers, and plenty of conflict and Season 3 can only be better!!! I'm looking forward to Season 3!!! Sincerely, A new fan.

From all the other netflix's shows.. this one if close to Iron First in terms of boredom. Like another review said, Luke is too overpowered and there's no reason whatsoever why he did not just cleaned up house in the first or second episodes.. nobody, I mean.. it's shown that nobody and nothing can stop him.. but he just runs around kicking some random bad guys' asses and at least in the first 3 episodes.. getting told what to do by his annoying superhero groupie girlfriend Claire.. funny thing is that when it's a guy telling a female lead what to do or how to behave, she usually either bluntly tells him to take a hike or just kicks his ass.. but when it's the opposite the guy just takes the nagging over and over..Moreover, I just don't what Luke's motivation is.. and there's not much action since he ain't a martial artist like Iron First and Daredevil... he just takes a few gunshots and then punch someone and fight is over..And the plots are all over the place.. jamaican guys smoking something.. the black woman doing who knows what maybe trying to get rich.. and misty trying to adjust to her new reality.. I think her storyline is the most interesting of all.. cause it's normal and we can relate somehow..Anyway, let's hope it gets a bit better later on

Originally the score was much high, season one of Luke Cage shined with brilliant ties into the comics and musical guest performances that intertwined beautifully with the story and the club scene simultaneously. So what did I hate about season 1? Not much. When Method Man was introduced to the story we find him introduced in such an inorganic and bizarre way then further integrated to the story in such an awkward way it can only be summed up with one word. Pandering. What happens in season 2? Less acts at the club and those amazing musical numbers although Kingfish gives us some truly magical moments. and in the very first episode? Welcome back pandering as we are greeted with a truly awkward montage with someone from the Jets for some reason why would this possible be there? Oh so we can name drop "Usain Bolt" FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON IN AWKWARD SCENES AND DIALOG!!
