In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

So like a lot of others, I was drawn to this because Tim Robbins & Holly Hunt were the leads. However, by the time I was 4 or 5 episodes in, the lead roles were the least of my worries. I was expecting a new 'Six Feet Under' drama. Or something 'Big Little Lies' ish. But with the exception of Ramon's '11/11 visions' storyline & the mysterious link to his therapist, we got a dull, insipid family, none of whom were particularly likeable or interesting (I'd have to invest in an entire page on IMDB if I were to list everything I disliked about all the characters). In fact, with the exception of Ramon & his therapist, I found the family smug and pretentious and who's issues came across as pretty pathetic and shallow. Bottom line, any drama based almost entirely on the dynamics of a family can only really work if those characters are well crafted and create a level of empathy that draws you in. Unfortunately H&N failed on every level. Not surprised it's been cancelled.

In 1999, Alan Ball burst onto the scene with the release of "American Beauty", whose screenplay he wrote. Two years later he debuted the HBO series "Six Feet Under", depicting the life of a family operating a funeral home. Now he has created another HBO series. "Here and Now" has unfortunately gotten cancelled, but its short run was an impressive one. Like his previous show, it depicts a family, and the various things that relate to their life. In this case, it's a multiracial family in Portland, Oregon. It's one of the most impressive shows that I've seen, covering a number of issues. This show definitely won't be for everyone, but if you're in for intellectual, complex TV, then you have to check it out.

I am so sad that this show is not coming back. I have to agree w/the post of No Ignorance Here by Brave traveler. 02/22/2018. Unfortunately we live in a society that is so closed minded and so sensitive . It makes it hard for viewers to enjoy TV anymore. This show was a great show. But because viewers today don't have an open mind and take everything they see on TV as an insult. This is the reason why we are losing so many great shows on TV. SO SAD.

I love Six Feed Under and had high expectations of this serie, but in the end the only reason why I watched the whole serie is because the actors are very good, and I even found the actress who played the 17 years old good. I was hoping until the end I would understand the real clue of the story but I didnot. I would not recommend it.
