All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

I thought this was going to be science fiction but it is not.The fictional impending disaster seems only to have been included to allow for extreme violence and cruelty. That is what this is all about.I really wish I had not watched this.On a positive note, what an impressive performance from Aisling Bea who, for me, was, until now, only a brilliant stand-up comedian.

I know there are some problems with weird subplots, completely off the chart timings etc. But it's actually a pretty decent detective series. Though the science fiction part is let's say, underdeveloped:-) So, I don't really know what people are complain about. I mean Lost in Space is mass-produced crap with plot-holes the size of black holes and a pretence at science that is borers on cringeworthy, but it still gets high ratings. In short, I'll easily watch a few more seasons of this. (And maybe in time the male lead Jim Sturgess will lose some of his annoying smugness that he seems to bring to all the roles I've seen him in.)

Hard Sun is one of the most abysmal series I have ever had the misfortune of witnessing in my life. The fact that the dialogue was more than likely written by a lazy infant was the least of this train-wrecks' problems. This formulaic "thriller" was filled with half baked tension and eye-rolling twists and turns. The acting was at times bordering on really good, which is very impressive giving the material. The only reason I kept going was this was such a strong premise and I was convinced it could only get better as it went on. Such a disappointing waste. One saving grace, for me at least, was the wonderful Aisling Bea, who I adore, apart from that it had nothing going for me.

Granted, it isn't a whole lotta sci-fi... but it does do what good sci-fi does best which is explore humanity.Really liked it, probably a bit too much cliche in there to go above 8 though.
