The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

This show isn't without faults. The first few episodes are directed badly. When I was watching them, I realized that this is the first series BBC has filmed in America. About America. What they did was hire British TV Directors to film the first episodes when the show could have used a different style. If you turn on British prime time TV , much of it looks exactly like Copper. Except with probably worse sets. What they do is film a play. In America , this style won't get you far. Except with this show, first of all the material is so good. The writing is great, the subject matter, the historical accuracy, and most of the actors are so on point. Probably a little too heavy to be filmed in that style. It's an abrupt , style. With no music. No segways. Copper needed more in its first few episodes. But the show is too damn good to give up on. So you will get used to it. By the second season they got the directing figured out.. Another one of its faults is, the show like I said is filmed like a play. Sometimes story lines end to abruptly. For example in the second season we meet Buzzy, who seems a fine criminal. Alas he is gone within one episode , neatly killed by one of the regulars. That jarring , kind of abrubtness takes some getting used to. You do get used to it. But it's different for Americans to not watch a good character or story line be squeezed out of its life. This show is actually more realistic in that way too. But again Americans are accustomed to far too much drama to not feel at least slightly uncomfortable at first. Like - why didn't they play music there? Why did they just end that scene without the characters staring into space? What happened? Wow that was quick. Kind of thing. Some of the actors here aren't up to par. Most of the cast is so good that any daggers behind really show. So like with the small child Annie Rieley, she makes the common mistake of the Neb; overacting. At times hard to watch. A few others , not many at all, maybe one or two, needed to be either replaced or given some acting lessons on he spot. There are a few characters , like Sara Freeman are overly dramatic. Again, this is directed more like a play then a TV or movie and suffers for it. But let's talk about the wonderful things about this show. Why the devil it was canceled is beyond me! This is a Wonderrful show. I've never been one of those people to fall in lust with actors. But I found myself really getting sweet on the two main characters ESP. I swear, I haven't seen another show with such s good looking cast. Ouch.. They look like they were sent from heaven . This is just the most beautiful ensemble cast I've ever seen. All in all this show sets up to be absolutely worth it. This show could have afforded even more flaws. It's a great show and I challenge anyone to not enjoy it . ESP the Irish in America. Yes we aren't as Irish as the kids back home but we are just as damn proud.

( NOTE : i clicked spoiler just in case they see it as one but i do not give anything away) Are you freaking kidding me, i finally got around to finishing of this awesome series and i can't believe how they left it. Can you imagine season 3, especially if what finished the season 2 of was gonna send him even more insane than what he already is,(without spoiling for those who are unfortunate enough not to have viewed this awesome TV show)but those who have witnessed this spectacular epic show will know. Will he find this person alive or not????? They cancel the great shows too early and let crap infest our TV's for decades, again what a shame this show did not finish of properly, they did talk about a movie but that probably would have happened by now if it was going to. Great acting, rough and tough, violence a plenty done so real at times even i cringed and i do not cringe easily with characters you love and know what they are capable of and we are never disappointed. Back drops, outfits, building scenery all top notch and sometimes you'll think your watching a Hollywood movie....again loved it but needed more to finish us of

I think I am almost finished with the first season and so far I am not too impressed. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere. It revolves around a cop who works in the Five Points area in New York which is a bad area, so he has to be kind of a bad cop. Tom Weston-Jones, who play Kevin Corcoran (Corky) is adorable and the acting by him and everyone else is adequate. As I said, it needs to start some sort of real good running story line or at least have more compelling disconnected episodes. If the first season finale doesn't end with a bang, I may not continue watching it. There is just too many good things on TV these days

Ladies and Gentlemen, I want SOMEONE preferable the director, producer, cinematographer, somebody to explain why they took a captivating story- line cast, and perfect momentum and made several radical departures that obviously hurt the show so much that led to it's ultimate demise...Where somebody working on Season 2 screwed up - perfect examples:#1) Season 2 - Episode 1: Why would you start developing an absolutely maniacal antagonist in the first episode who carved up Franka Potente's back in over-gruesome fashion only to have him killed later in the same episode?#2) The basic camera filter used to shoot Season 1 depicted a period piece beautifully, and you could tell in the first 3 minutes of the first episode in season 2, that awful over-sepia-toned filter would throw audiences immediately off who had been eagerly anticipating the show to pickup right where it left off at the end of season 1.#3) Kiara Glasco...this young lady playing Annie Reilly was brilliant in playing a very difficult young character, and she held her own in nearly ever episode. Her role was minimized in season 2 and an obvious void was apparent.I could go on but these are my top 3, and they are absolutely inexcusable. Whoever deviated so drastically from the success of season 1 should be ashamed of themselves, and they owe Tom Weston Jones a HUGE apology for taking away one of the new great period characters American audiences have seen and will see, in a long damn time.Just a shame.-DSC
