A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

This is a poorly disguised apology for the treatment of aborigines aired by the Australian Broadcasting Company. Not much subtlety here at all. The ABC is yet again attempting to denigrate Australia's achievements. By calling the aborigines hairies and setting it in a not too distant dystopian future it hopes to attract interest amongst the science fiction followers out there. But it is not a science fiction series, the genre is more political and cultural, and not very good drama at that.

One shouldn't be surprised with the low ratings and scathing reviews coming from the wading, whining crowd of neanderthals with a TV who came across this series hoping that Australia kept quiet about the mistakes of past and present and was portrayed as the racial democracy it is still struggling to be. The ignorant will describe things that don't conform to their bigoted view of the world (as usual confusing fiction with documentary) as political correctness, liberal propaganda, leftist historical revisionism and whatever pair of words these real-life far-right sub-humans can support in their pea- sized brains when faced with a dystopian sci-fi happening right in their backyard.I believe the strength of this series lies in its ability to show how easy it is for humans to exert united oppression over those who are different. The series is not as nuanced as the film Crash (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375679/) or District 9 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1136608/) when it comes to portraying the deeper psychological aspects of race relations. Unfortunately at this level things can be very flat and divided into the old us vs. them without much history growing into the situation the characters are found. It also doesn't build up its background history too well. The series jump-starts at a point in history where things are well ahead and kicking off with government containment, persecutions and killings freely ongoing, unlike A Handmaid's Tale which does that pretty well without soaking one on infinite flashbacks. All in all, this is a good series to watch and I am having fun so far.

Bemused, intrigued, and slightly entertained. Yes, I realise this is a low budget production, most of which probably went Iain Glen (in the grand scheme of things well worth it), the acting is great, the plot has more holes than an Emmental cheese, but still confused! Is it rubbish, or brilliant? All that aside, I'm still watching and pretty much engaged. Fair play Australian Broadcasting Corporation, it's refreshing to watch something that's a bit leftfield.

First IMDb review. Sick of shows plagiarising other shows. This is a copy of The Almighty Johnsons, a great show from New Zealand; but modified to fit some kind of Australian theme and failing miserably. The Almighty Johnsons was a brilliant show. This copies it all the way to the ways in which the powers are revealed, and even the 'Hairies'.Pathetic.For those who would like to see what this show could have been, I suggest you watch The Mighty Johnsons.Shows that are poor, rehashed copies out for f other shows, should be singled out for what they are.Viewers have a right to know that there's another show out there, that has all the qualities that this copy attempts to realise and pretends to have conceived.
