Wonderful character development!

From the origins of it's classic first series in 1983 and it's equally enjoyable and 'troublesome' second series through to the welcoming third and fourth series after a 16-year gap, and the final special in 2004 - it's all such glorious stuff from a cast and crew of brilliant writers, directors and actors. The characterisations are superbly crafted and it's very hard not to love these guys who at one point represented the turmoil of Maggie Thatcher's working-class Britain. There are many wonderful episodes to be viewed throughout the series that not only will have you rolling off the couch, but also reaching for the odd hankie or two.A much-deserved Award-winner!
... View MoreI am a great fan of Auf Wiedersehen Pet. I think it was a good Idea they called it a day in December 2004. Because there is only so much you can do with 6 builders. And now Pat Roach is dead its not the same. My favourite Series was when they was in Germany, Derbyshire and Spain. I thought the 2002 series was OK considering they didn't have Wayne because he died in 1986 but then the last 2 series in 2004 was not the same to me. It went a bit silly. My favourite Character has to be Oz. He is really funny. The way he went on about the Germans was none stop. He even had to complain about his mates. But he did reunite the lads in 2002 for a job which could change their lives. 'Yeah Right' There is always a catch when Oz is involved. Poor Dennis had a lot to put up with. Always sorted the lads problems out but he couldn't sort his own out. Barry used bore them all to death which Oz would remind him about it. Nevile was always morning about being away from home and Brenda and always relied on Dennis to sort his problems out. Bomber always tried to sort his own and the lads problems out . Moxey was with Barry a lot of the time or in the local nick. Wayne always had a soft spot for the girls which meant a quiet word from Ally Fraser to keep away from Vikki which he did but Oz couldn't but lucky for him Ally had bigger fish to fry. My other favourite Character not within the lads is Ally Fraser played by Bill Paterson. He always had power over Dennis and he would look down his noise on the lads. And he never gave anything for free of charge. He even charged them rent for staying at the Manor in Derbyshire But the lads took their anger out on his Jaguar and Allys boys Big Baz included. But Dennis paid him back for all Allys Threats and Dirty work for all them years by keeping his £25,000.
... View MoreStick your Bo'selecta and your little britain where the sun don't shine. Aufpet is a great mix of drama and comedy (black & white humour).Seris 1 was brilliant. Following the 'maginificent 7' (Tim Healy, Jimmy Nail, Kevin Whately, Pat Roach, Gary Holton, Christopher fairbank and Timothy spall) as they move to germany for 6 months to get away from england, where they are unemployed.Seris two reunites the magnificent 7 as they travel across england until they eventually get to spainSeris 3 introduced a new main character due to Gary Holtons untimely (and mysterious) death. Wyman is waynes son. This seris is probably the weakest of the 4.Seris 4 was great. All the characters back up to the standards we expect from them and a great story line. All in all a great seris. This is something which will never die, will you be watching Bo'selecta in 20 years? I doubt it!! I know i'll be watching Aufpet (unless the discs break or something....god help me if they do...)

This is so poor. And you should know better Timothy Spall. They can't have paid you that much.As for Jimmy Nail. Well the kindest thing that can be said is that he is every bit as good an 'actor' as he is a singer and writer. Come on Jimmy, the joke's over. 'Crocodile Shoes' and 'Spender' were very funny, unfortunately I don't think they were supposed to be. With 'Auf Wiedersehen Pet' the opposite applies.
