Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

This movie was one of the worst horror movies I've seen in the last 2 years and, I've seen a load of horror these last 2 years. The character development is really poor. I knew this was going to be a boring experience, oh boy... Nothing could've prepared for what I witnessed in the next 90 minutes. The movie starts with a CGI shot of the Winchester house... I'm not a graphic designer or anything but, I guarantee you, I could've made it better. They had a budget of 3.5 million... Probably payed some kids a couple of hundred bucks to do all the CGI for this. Also, expect a lot of obvious and dumb jump scares. A lot. It gets annoying and boring after a while. If you are a horror fan, like me(I've watched every single horror film in existence) don't waste your time with this one. Sure, there are worse movies out there but, I really didn't enjoy this one because of all the hype it got before release date, the awesome cast, which I have no idea how they got them. I almost gave up before the 1 hour mark cause I was falling asleep. The story doesn't even bother to keep you interested or invested in what's about to happen next. You kind of figure out what's gonna happen next 5 minutes before it does.My verdict: Hopeless.

This was an entertaining film with loads of scares to deliver. But it's difficult to like it much when the plot becomes impossible to believe on some level. For it to be effective, something about the characters need to realistic. Henry is possessed by the vengeful spirit and shoots Sarah point blank with a rifle, but she's not even injured after he tries to strangle her afterwards. The doctor claims to have been dead three minutes and revived to life. Where in 1900's America could that have ever happened? I don't see why it takes Australians to come up with movies about famous Americans like Tonya Harding, Sarah Winchester or Ted Kennedy. Couldn't George Clooney be interested in a project like that?

5/26/18. As much as I like Helen Mirren, this biopic of the Winchester heir and strange lady haunted by ghosts of those killed by Winchester firearms was only okay. Though atmospheric that in itself was not enough to make this worth watching. But, if you're a Mirren fan, then by all means catch it.

One could say that this film is interesting in its own way (the original approach to the theme of ghosts), but what this doctor saw many times with his own eyes and continues to reiterate about superstitions that nothing unusual is happening, that one simply needs to go to the hospital... this stupid dumbness of a doctor cutting down 2 points for me.
