I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Well the intro , the atmosphere and the 1st few scares let you wonder why this movie isn't a new conjuring but when the scares got repetitive and nothing new is presented the movie lost its essence .. the plot was so simple nothing is engaging it had the potential for another conjuring but that needs rich engaing plot with lots of scares variety not a single repetitive one

Winchester has a 28 on Metacritic and I really don't get it. It is not a particularly scary film, though it does have a couple effective jolts. The cast is solid , the production is first rate and the story about the Winchester home and family is fascinating. I am sure that no small percentage of viewers will Google Sara Winchester and the Winchester home after watching this film. I was not bored for a second. I surely recommend it as a nice diversion.

It was honestly rlly good I've been reading these bad reviews and it wasn't even that bad as they said it was. It's a haunted house kinda movie with spirits haunting it. A lot of jump scares and some disturbing images but it was very good!

When we first meet Helen Mirren in Winchester it's unevitable to think of The Woman in Black. We will never know what drove Mirren to take on this role. Perhaps she just wanted a horror movie in her repertoire. Then again, Winchester is a very predictable and unscary paint-by-the-numbers "horror" movie that shouldn't be considered as a genre representative. There is a moment early in the film when actor Jason Clarke is listening at the wall of the haunted Winchester house that made me laugh out loud because from this moment on I knew this is like watching a director (in this case directing brothers) learning to take first steps in the genre. The really sad thing is that not even the house looks scary or creates a tense atmosphere. It's a uninteresting story in a borefest.
