Great Film overall
... View Moreit is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.
... View MoreA terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
... View MoreThrough painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
... View MoreThis is an very amateurish attempt at movie-making. The characters are one-dimensional; the plot is predictable; the dialogue is trite; the set design is cheap-looking, and the acting is sub-par.What is the most disappointing thing though is that the set-up had a whole bunch of potential for something very funny. Jean-Claude Van Damme gives us his typical overacting, but in way making fun of himself and his stereotypical persona. This feature could have been a good cornerstone on which to build a lost-in-the-jungle story. But the film-makers decided (wrongly) that a better choice would be to riff on The Lord of the Flies. Unfortunately, once that decision was made, the predictability of the plot was inevitable. (I am even willing to overlook the underlying faulty premise that an employer would needlessly send his employees on a team-building exercise when teamwork is not an essential part of their employment, but clearly that flaw should have been fixed too.) There is nothing of enough quality otherwise to offset the bad plot choice. There is very little here to warrant any of your movie-watching time.To see my other movie reviews, please visit:https://nomorewastedmovienights.wordpress.com
... View MoreI'm very curious on how this movie come to be. It's nothing more than cheesy dialogues and entirely predictable jokes, but it manages to include Jean Claude Van Damme and Daniel Haybert, who have more credential in action. Not to mention the attempt in humor is very crude, it's practically littered with profanity as well as decades old slapstick. The story follows a group of company workers who are sent to an island for teamwork drill. They hired Van Damme as the guide but he is far from special force veteran here. Not before long everything falls apart and it becomes torturous castaway flick. Characters are stereotypical, you have your overly nice guy, scruffy sidekick for comedy, pretty love interest and that one annoying boss.Everyone behaves in straightforward manner following template from 90s comedy, the other cast not only lacks any hint common sense, they are also interchangeable extras. Jokes aren't funny in the slightest, with most are attributed with vulgar or racial tone. It tries hard way too much it becomes too unnatural. Perhaps this is to showcase the stagnant work place can be and how people would like to become more than they are, but it delivers the idea in such feeble manner, crediting them such effort is an overstatement.Van Damme, maybe, wants to broaden his acting range. This character is so different from his usual stint, it could be interesting for a few scenes, but it becomes too tired too fast. In fact, the movie feels way too lengthy for such thin material. It really wastes not only audience's time but also dulls their senses.Avoid at all cost. It is worth neither your money nor time.
... View MoreTo say this movie was the biggest waste of time in the history of motion pictures would be a huge understatement.Welcome To The Jungle is another try at mixing action and comedy together, it only works if you have the right cast and crew. This however does not have anything worth watching the only reason I watch this movie was because it had Jean-Claude Van Damme and "The Blacklist" Megan Boone. Now it took me three tries to watch it and from the start I knew I made the mistake watching this film. While it may have promising to it, the film has nothing to make it worth your time. While it may not be the worst movie I ever seen it is a very awful movie. The acting in the film is not even creditable it just becomes rather boring really fast.It makes you wonder if the writers were drunk when they wrote the story for this movie.Clearly this was meant to be a direct to video release and it just goes to show that Direct to video movies are getting a bad rap not all are bad just this one is just really bad.Welcome To The Jungle is just a fail try to mix action and comedy this is a example of what happens when you got a bad script and the characters being idiots.I give Welcome To The Jungle a 2 out of 10
... View MoreThis movie is strictly for people who enjoyed Office Space, Dumb & Dumber, Dodgeball, Ace Ventura, etc. and have the capacity to get over themselves. It's absolutely ridiculous, immature, and goofy like all of those other low brow comedies but with a way smaller budget and considerably less starpower. It's not a thinking mans movie and will never considered for an Oscar but I think anybody with common sense realizes that 5 minutes in. It's definitely not an instant classic either but people on this site are being way to hard considering what this is. All the acting is more than adequate for a screwball comedy and it has it's share of laughs and silliness. I'd recommend it for the people who just want be amused and entertained for a few hours by a little of absurdity.
