It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

i saw this film on DVD recently without reading or looking at reviews here but stupid friend of mine said he loved the ending ,because its a horror movie (that was enough to convince me to give it a shot ) so i put the DVD in the DVD player ,and movie starts : its a long road film (not the fun type of road movies )it begins with a photographer and a model taking road trips ,and how they started their relationship in this ''lets have sex at every nice location road movie'' and i was hoping i would enjoy some scenes but apparently the model wasn't Letitia casta type of sexy model either,,there are some great locations here (a plus for good directing) ,just the first 20 mins passed and i had double thought to force myself to watch 2 hours long of unstable relationships between the two,or skip the long driving scenes through the landscape (nice jeep though),the dialogue was just kind of weird ,sex scene,then another sex scene ,then another , sex in swimming pool nice ,sex on rocks ,COOL ,adventurous sex scene almost i forgot i got a GF watching with me,yeah right,,i really thought about stop watching after 1 hour but decided to make coffee and continue ,then the last accident with 3 thugs appeared out of nowhere as they took the couple in good beat down for my amusement for putting me to boring film,but hey those guys spiced up the story out of sudden its now a got horror elements like hills have eyes moment involving in rape and assault leaving the couple wounded(that's the horror you guys are talking about ?)well,now the leading male actor pulled a Friday th13 final chapter on his girlfriend ,die die die stabbing his girl ,because his mind is unstable due to the rape so he unleash it on the his girlfriend model ,the movie ends with police arriving to bust him in the desert the end,so i asked my GF what she thinks of the film she said you better take that film off the DVD shelf and throw it in the garbage which i did gladly overall good director ,bad actors,bad dialogue,this film is not horror i repeat not horror,i really don't know why reviewers are saying its horror film,its not,check your brain cells again please you cant label a movie just for the last 20 mins of horrific accident to turn characters to a killer with Michael Myers favorite knifing segment (how did he got a knife again ?)of course i called my friend who recommended the movie for me the next day and i told him he is an idiot and i hang up the phone quickly lol

Well ,after watching this movie I was shocked by how bad and ridiculous it was. It's simply a dry and dreadful movie without any message nor any interesting plot developments--a very pointless ,pathetic ,and boring movie. And besides ,there weren't any story build nor any much information about the characters and around half the endless time the characters were just naked like a porn and nothing really happened between them not mentioning the awful and unconnected and very DISGUSTING END (man raping a man while some other guys beating his girlfriend....pretty sick and really awful-really hard to watch). This movie had so much basic mistakes and it was predictable and limited without any emotion or any interesting dialogs (the text was lame too...). In conclusion: better to avoid it ,not worth watching -complete waste of time.

I seen this movie yesterday. In fact translated English subtitle to Turkish and it finished yesterday :) Anyway it was very fearless movie witch broke the rules of cinema, i know have been broken before by other directors but nowadays i haven't seen a new shoot movie which has this kind of sex scenes after Ken Park (2002).The other interesting point was an unconditional fidelity and love of the girl (Yekaterina Golubeva as Katia) to the man.Katia's acting was awesome. Especially there is a scene which is very funny, she says "i love you" while man talking a lot about how he cant understand her.This is a kind of movie which u like or hate.Also this is a movie that u cant watch with your family. Cos it contains really hard sex scenes, sometimes like a porn.The directors note at the end of movie's trailer was interesting and so true.

Just finished this.....movie? I'm not sure what else to call it. It's 2 hours of watching 2 people, fight, drive, eat, f**k, swim, fight, f**k, drive, eat, pee, f**k, and ON and ON and ON!!!!!!! Eventually, they are raped and killed. All this happens in the mystical beauty of the American Southwestern Desert. So, was it good? I have no idea. Was it art? Sure, why not. One thing I will say is that every time I wanted to shut this film off, I didn't, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it was because the lead actress was smoking hot and couldn't seem to keep her clothes on for more than 15 minutes. Maybe it was because I really wanted to see the main guy if this film get hit by a bus. Why does every guy in this movie scream when they have an orgasm like somebody just dumped boiling water on their genitals? Ugh?!?! Would I watch it again? Probably not. 29 Palms will undoubtedly haunt my mind for a few days. If this is what the director was going for, then bravo. I've also received the same effect after seeing a 300 pound women in a bikini. That incident didn't take 2 hours of my life away. For what its worth, the two lead actors did a damn good job acting like a dysfunctional couple on a road trip. I've been there, only nobody raped or killed me because of it.
