A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

I've skipped over this for weeks on Netflix but tonight I decided to watch it. It was much better than I thought it was going to be. I felt the atmosphere was good throughout most of the movie. A good mixture of the extremes and moderation you might find in this kind of situation. The cinematography was good with interesting tones for the sky and most scenes. What I liked were the bits and pieces unexplained like what had happened to the father? What happened to that large family group in the end? If it was by agreement then why the haphazard positions of the bodies? What hit the earth? Why was there such a break in James' family? Pieces we likely didn't need but we wonder about. What was lacking to me was the sense of distance. I don't know Perth or the places being mentioned but you have the feeling that there are long drives everywhere. Yet by the end of the movie you feel the first girlfriend sea side cottage, James' sister's house, his mother's, the party and Rose's aunt's are all not that far apart. Yet we seem to be spending much too much time in vehicles.Overall it was worth watching. Always nice to see a movie set somewhere you don't know and with actors you don't recognize. Overall the acting was good including the actress who played Rose - except she needs to practice her crying. No sappy ending.

It was a good take on the whole end of the world concept. A bit slow and choppy at times, but seemed at least somewhat real. I enjoyed the movie as a whole, for the most part but let's get to the point that this movie really drove home.....titties.Seriously, tons of them. Nice ones too. I saw ONE ugly set of titties the whole time (and trust me, they show a LOT of titties). A+ on keeping men interested. Sorry women, the best you get is a 3 second ass shot of the main character and then right back to ALLLLLLL the titties. Did a single adult female have a shirt on at all? I don't think so, at least not many, and not for very long. Overall, recommend it for either the actual content or just the titties. You'll appreciate at least one of the two.

Mankind. At its worst, best and last hours. Something happened. It's not clear, what it was. But it means the end of earth and mankind in a few hours. As the planet turns, more and more of it is consumed by a merciless fire. But not everything is burned yet. In a beach house a man leaves his pregnant wife (or girlfriend) behind to go on a party and get drugged there till the end comes. On his way he sees people who decide to spent their last hours the way they like. Be it preaching, killing, dying or abducting and raping kids.Maybe it's due to the fact that he was going to be father if that whole end-of-the-world-thing wouldn't occur. But something snaps in our hero's mind and he decides to save a girl from two brutal men carrying it to a house. He learns that she is looking for her father, so he decides to help her on her way. It's the beginning of a journey that will change him and help him set his priorities straight. "These final hours" is a very deep, emotional movie that shows people when they are most desperate, fragile or afraid. Some party, but that's only to cover their fear from certain death.I haven't seen such a human movie in a long time. No false heroism nor patriotism. No false hope. Just the naked reality, outright and natural. This movie will touch your heart and have you thinking. The main character James does a great acting, but so does the girl Rose. There are a few supporting characters along the movie and even though you don't really have the time to get to know them better, they will leave their impact in the story. Every single one of them.A masterpiece. 10/10

If you expect catastrophic scenes and special effects will remain disappointed. The movie, about the last hours before the holocaust, focuses mainly on human impending disaster reactions; there are no scenes of destruction. The question in here is: what would the people do knowing that the end of the world, life, is near and inevitable?Well, I found it interesting and above all realistic enough. The last hours of our main characters are probably more significant than what we see around in the movie and so I found a certain empathy with him.Probably this film would have been more interesting by looking to a larger urban context and so, by offering more insights. Anyway the film is beautifully packaged and the acting more then decent and likely.7/10
