The Sandlot 2 Trailers

A decade has passed in the small town where the original Sandlot gang banded together during the summer of ’62 to play baseball and battle the Beast. Now, back at the dugout, nine new kids descend on the diamond only to discover that a descendant of the Beast lives in Mr. Mertle’s backyard – a monster of mythical proportions known as 'The Great Fear'.

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

This movie was bad even by the standards of direct to video sequels. This features none of the actors from the original movie except for James Earl Jones. Please review this, Nostalgia Critic! I'm reminded of his review of "A Christmas Story 2" where he kept saying, "First movie!". That's exactly what this was. This was a pathetic attempt to recreate the magic made by arguably the best sports movie of the 1990's with a new cast. The plot is so dumb as it features a model rocket that's apparently going to change the future of space travel being activated by a kid that goes into the yard with the monstrous dog.How did we go from a baseball signed by Babe Ruth to a partly functional rocket? Oh, and it loses points because there's one scene where they try to get a cat to retrieve the rocket and the monstrous dog rips all his fur off. I felt sorry for that poor cat. Even the ending is just a ripoff of the original giving us absolutely nothing new and insulting to the original. There are a bunch of girl characters who really serve no purpose and there's a kid who was bitten but that's never brought up. We went from an urban legend about a dog that ate dozens of people to one where a dog bit a kid. *1/2

I watched the hell out of this movie when it first came out. For a while, it was my favorite to watch whenever I felt like watching a movie. A weird thing is that I had watched this one first before the original (I have since seen the original film as well and I enjoyed it a lot) which is probably the reason that I love it so much. A lot of other reviews say that this film pretty much copies the original, but so did 22 Jump Street (albeit 22 Jump Street had the same characters while the Sandlot 2 did not). Nevertheless, I recommend this film for anyone who enjoys coming-of-age sports films with heart and funny moments. I know my vote says eight out of ten, but to give a more accurate review of it, I would most likely give it a 7.7 or 7.8 out of ten.

Yes it's far too similar to the first, but the storyline is far more appealing. The group of kids is more realistic and diverse in a small town, which are the kids who would be playing at a sandlot. Instead of them being the only kids who play baseball, there is also I more superficial team who are their rivals, that play on a real team. In any small town, sports are the main priority, but you don't have to be self absorbed to be a part of it., which is why they seclude themselves from that. Which is where a lot of people throw bad reviews come in. These are the kids who aren't. They're playing for the love of the sport not because they're good at it or have been placed into it by their parents. I think anyone from a small town realizes this and embraces this movie because of that reason. The characters are great, and nothing is over bearing. Just diverse, and not typical. In my opinion it was a lot better than the first. It just really means a lot to me coming from a small town and not being one of the typical, it just makes a lot more sense; honestly.

My jaw actually dropped when I saw this movie sitting on the shelf. I only rented it for pure curiosity. I did not check movie ratings or critics comments because I was sure they would be bad anyway. I popped the movie in and immediately wanted to pop it out. I always finish a movie so I sat through this torment. The only time I caught myself laughing was at the terrible acting and how the script may as well have been copied and pasted from the original classic except to be twisted into a trash can they call a movie. There was no creativity or thought put into it, it seemed as if they rushed through they movie only hoping to not lose money by spending more time. I urge you to NOT see this movie unless you are just simple looking to waste a bit of time and money you can never have back.
