The Protector 2 Trailers

Kham is the last in long line of guards who once watched over the King of Thailand's war elephants. Traditionally, only the perfect elephants could successfully help defend the throne, after his harrowing quest to retrieve the elephants, Kham returns to his village to live in peace. But for someone as good in martial arts as him, peace is but a wishful thought.

Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

Very disappointing. Sadly this sequel went like so many other movie sequels, and that is down the toilet. The movie basically failed to capture you in the beginning and I literally lost interest shortly after that. Fight scenes overall is below average. If you haven't seen the first one, then this movie may have been OK, but if you've seen the first one ... well, we both can shake our heads in disappointment. So, what went wrong? They went away from what brought them success in the fist movie. First movie gave us (somewhat) new, cutting edge stunt works, second movie just tried to recycle what they did (not the concept of giving something 'new'). First movie gave us unremarkable people who knows how to fight (which resulted in great fight scenes!). Second movie gave us (somewhat) flashy people who doesn't know how to fight. RZA, really? RZA?? Yayaying?? Which resulted in lame, sleep inducing fight scenes. So yeah, like many others have said, don't waste your time on this ... especially if you've seen the first one.

*CAN CONTAIN SPOILERS* This is a real mixed bag, but overall good movie in my opinion. After reading so many bad reviews i disagree to the spammed "the movies a waste of time". It's completely untrue. The movies story line is actually decent! Quite a few smart plot twists and even though it was "go save the lost elephant" again, i thought it still did well and kept me pretty interested. There are some damn awesome fight scenes throughout, especially against the 002 fighter and i thought the final fight was awesome! However... yes... CGI= Face palm. The CGI i must say is utterly awful full stop. The bad effects really stick out like a sore thumb and are completely unnecessary. Real cringe moments due to the clearly fake and awful CGI are really notorious in the rooftop motorbike scene, the scene where the walls are alight with flames, and the phony star wars copy with the sparks on the railway. Disappointingly, basically as soon as CGI is used in this film, it really lowers the quality. End note, definitely not too bad a movie at all, with some really good fight scenes and a solid story line, just one cannot ever disregard the dreaded CGI use. Not on par with Ongbak 1 and 2 or Tom yum goong 1, but definitely better than Ong Bak 3. If you liked tom yum goong 1 then i would definitely say its worth checking this movie out.

I gotta admit, when it came to the story it's worse this time. However it's more fast paced and I thought it did a better job of transitioning into the fight sequences was done much better in this. It's not really a boring martial arts flick until the fight scene between Tony Jaa and Marrese Crump round one (which is the based scene in the movie in my opinion). After the 43 minute mark the movie goes downhill. Tony Jaa and the other stunt people uses quite a bit of wire works this time around. And the CGI and the special effects are pretty darn bad. I don't even know why they put it into the trailers with a girl smacking a guy with her hair in a serious fist fight. RZA is in this movie and the reasons he is probably in it, is because he is a fan of "Ong-Bak", martial arts movies, does a bit of martial arts practicing himself and he wanted to play a gangster mobster boss. However his acting is awful and comedic, he can't really do stunt or fight choreography that well. So Tony Jaa has to act weak while fighting him. This is a bland and lame sequel that tries to be cool with the rock music playing in the background. So many elements gets wasted in this movie, like the ranking with the numbers when it comes to the fighters. It really is pointless. Overall, if it didn't lose the entertainment value after the 43 minute mark, probably could have been better than the first one.4/10

Could not wait to see this flick once I heard it was coming out. Tony Jaa was the next big thing when I saw the Protector, but he lost momentum somewhere around Ong Bak 2or Ong Bak 3, so I was real excited about it especially with the delay of Fast 7 which I heard he was in.This movie attempts to put Jaa on the next level, but I got to be honest, I'm not sure if I'm ready for Jaa on the next level. The movie goes beyond the intense martial arts fighting we know Jaa to do, by adding in some amazing action scenes that fall short slightly because it's not Jaa doing what he does best.No one can be Jackie Chan and Tony Jaa knows this, which is why the action sequence with Jaa battling an army of motorcycles has Tony using both a stunt double and green screen. It was a great attempt to exploit how cheap visual effects have gotten over the years, and Tony Jaa's attempt to grow as an action star, but I did not come to see Jaa grow.Lucky for me Jaa did not forget what the kids came to see. Tony Jaa had a few amazing fight scenes in the movie beginning with two young Thai girls who are not on Jaa's level but it's always cool to see the chicks get into the battle. There was a dude in the film who looked like a younger sexier Billy Blanks who gave the Jaa man a real run for his money in no less than two rounds of kung fu fighting. But the best fight scene in the movie was Tony Jaa… Versus the RZA. It was a good fight because they made RZA look good. It seemed like he did a lot of the fighting himself, and believe me I was looking for the stunt man. I totally believed that the Wu Tang master could take Jaa.The movie does not have much of a story, in fact it rips of the first movie pretty well, Jaa needs to keep a closer eye on his Elephant, but we go to see the fighting skills which Jaa brings, despite the large amount of wire work and visual effects used that kind of weaken it, but it's worth the watch.
