It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

This is another daddy goes vigilante to rescue his daughter film. In this case Beth (Gia Mantegna) the daughter is strung out on drugs in New Orleans. Paul (Jason Patric) her father, we later discover is the title character. He was a bad guy hitman 20 years ago and skipped town after a hit went bad. Now he is back and must face old enemies in a script so formulaic, you don't need to watch the film.Jason Patric is no Charles Bronson, Jason Stratham, or Liam Neeson, but he was more convincing than say Neil Patrick Harris or Lou Diamond Phillips. Jessica Lowndes played his tag-a-long in an unrealistic role but is part of the formula. John Cusack had a cameo appearance as did 50 Cent. Willis managed to get some more screen time than "The Cold Light of Day" but it wasn't impressive as he phoned it in.Mediocre action flick rental at best. Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity.

Where do i even start. The main character's acting was horrible. He couldn't open his mouth without doing awkward bad actor movements, whilst having zero emotion in his voice and with dead eyes. With the very famous side characters bruce and john, i just can't understand why they chose this nobody as the lead character. His character showed no reason for us to even feel sorry for him. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't get the bad boy vibe. His daughter was a crackhead that we didn't get any reason to like whatsoever. The male lead has his daughter's college friend as his sidekick. There was some strange romantic vibe going on between them. Which is just very creepy. Her acting was terrible. She's pointless and just there as a transformers Megan fox copy. Bruce willis is the villain who gets like 10 minutes of screen time in total and is the only person to feel sorry for. Bruce looked like he put zero effort into this movie. John cusack probably got even less screen time and is completely pointless to the story. Seiously why was he there. Same as with Bruce, he clearly put no effort in.Now let's get to the only good part of the entire movie. Rain. The only interesting character. A mysterious well dressed killer who does the dirty work for Bruce. He suited the role very well, which was a happy surprise for me since i have only seen him in comedy before (Full House and some TV appearances). His English is far from flawless, but i thought he did a good job with pronouncing and sounding fairly natural despite that. He also looked the most natural with the gun.To sum it up, it's basically a bad version of Taken. The script is horrible and i can't put my finger on how, but the editing just seemed very weird and awkward. Don't waste your time on this movie. Unless you're a Jihoon fan. The just fast forward and watch his scenes.

This movie is not horrible, but certainly not cinematic gold either. I'm going short for this review, because there ain't much to say.The story is, uhm, very straight forward. But we don't really need the story to be all that, in this kind of movie. The action is actually not bad. The shootouts are pretty good. There's real blank-firing guns, good sound design, blood-packets, the works. The action choreography is not exceptional, but alright.Bruce Willis, who's in the front on the cover, is not in it very much. John Cusack is on the cover, but also barely in it. Pretty obvious that these actors are mostly bait, to get people to see it. If Bruce Willis is in it, can't be all bad, right!? Well, yes it can, but this is OK.Jason Patric does a pretty good job as a bad ass, I think. Seems like he got some weapons training, he is believable or the most part.Movie is kind of reminiscent of Taken, although a lot weaker. We don't really care much about the characters. Take it for what it is, an action thriller with a couple of decent shoot outs, and you won't be too disappointed.

Paul (Jason Patric) is a mafia hit-man in New Orleans, and with a baby on the way, he wants out. Paul thinks the only way to do that is to kill his boss (Bruce Willis). With a car bomb in place, Paul waits for his boss to leave for the day, but is shocked to see the bosses wife and daughter get into the car instead. After the tragedy, Paul and his family flea and for 18 years, live in peace, but that all changes when his daughter goes down to New Orleans for a weekend getaway and disappears. The dry, emotionless, Jason Patric stars in this film and as it turns out, he's perfect for the role. As The Prince, the heir apparent, Patric has to play both a loving father and a ruthless criminal and does so admirably. While he's listed in the background, he really is the star of the movie, with the other big names making sporadic appearances. It's a shame, because Bruce Willis's boss character seemed to be a really interesting guy, who I'd have loved to see more of and learn more about. The Prince isn't very unique and you can't help but draw parallels to A History of Violence. While not as good, the film still features some intense action and a great story. The one draw back is that the Prince is so focused on this man Paul, and his goals, that they ignore some very compelling side stories. Had I been the writer, I would have utilized flashbacks through out, to show more of the prince and the bosses story, but sadly they didn't. Aside from that I really enjoyed the film, it was a chase, a mystery, and a mafia film rolled into one, with some great cameos, and an unexpected ending. This is the kind of action film I'd love to see more of. It isn't simply about the special effects and the guns, there is a purpose behind all of it, and that makes all the difference.
