It’s been 20 years since the corporations took over the world’s governments. Their thirst for power and profits led to the Corporate Wars, a fierce global battle that laid waste to society as we know it. Born from the ash, the Council of Nine rose as a new law and order for this dark age. To avenge the corporations’ reckless destruction, the Council issues death warrants for all white collar criminals. Their hunters—the bounty killer. From amateur savage to graceful assassin, the bounty killers now compete for body count, fame and a fat stack of cash. They’re ending the plague of corporate greed and providing the survivors of the apocalypse with retribution. These are the new heroes. This is the age of the BOUNTY KILLER.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

I enjoyed cartoon violence, with a large helping of black comedy on the side. And that's just what you'll get with BOUNTY KILLER. There's no plot to ruin so I don't need to be careful with what I say here, it won't spoil it for you.If you do some research and go in with your eyes open and your mind switched to fun mode, you'll probably enjoy it. It definitely isn't for everyone though. There's a fair bit of over-the-top gore and it beats the crappy CGI every time. Takes me back to the old way of making films and makes me think of EVIL DEAD, BAD TASTE etc.Mix in some V8's, motorbikes, MAD MAX style high speed chases across the desert and huge killing sprees that were all well directed/choreographed and acted.Chuck it in your guilty pleasure pile.

So do you like super sexy leggy femme fatales wearing stockings, knee high boots and a cute mini skirt ensemble whilst gunning down and slashing people with her boot spurs? course you do! Based on a graphic novel apparently we are back to the old apocalyptic Earth scenario with gangs of bikers roaming about the place ala 'Mad Max'.The story is simple unoriginal and purely an excuse for bloody action. The world has been brought to its knees by the business world, titanic corporations hell bent on greed that set out to destroy one another but managed to wipe out the globe at the same time. Now the world (or is it just America) has been reduced to a waste land. The top business executives that initiated the mighty war have long since fled with the remaining wealth, but hot their tracks are the Bounty Killers, backed and supported by all the survivors, seeking revenge for the worlds ruin.I do like this idea in general, the way the bounty killers are highly revered celebrities that rack up kills for money fame and kill count records. I also like the idea of targeting white collar suit workers (tie wearers) as the enemy and the fact that the corporate world brought down the human race and is now treated like prey, it feels right. Obviously the film has a cynical satirical dark humorous edge to it which works in its favor but I feel they don't quite exploit this advantage well enough. The film does resort more towards the obligatory Tarantino-esque bloody fever pitch action...which is what its all about don't get me wrong but the plot had the promise of more intelligence if you ask me. Anyway the film is a graphic novel adaptation and it does exactly what it should by translating the kick ass gore to the screen in a truly gratuitous fashion, no holds barred, without a care in the world. Not to be taken seriously (naturally) the film is visually fun with a sexy scantily clad heroine, bizarre modified vehicles, lots of guns and flashing blades, face painted female warrior gypsies, people getting carved up, plenty of sex appeal and some nice animated interludes to fill in the gaps. There does seem to be a lot of these fast food straight to DVD action filled splatter flicks these days. This whole concept of in your face over the top bloody action is very common place yet a tad mundane I must say, the visual style and characters all seem to be very familiar. You see this film and you know instantly where inspiration has come from, its not hard, but I can't help but feel a certain 'Kill Bill' kick started all this type of thing...the blood gore and costumes. Mind you saying that you could also compare this ultra sexy kick ass heroine to 'Barb Wire' and 'Tank Girl', you can see that vibe going' on.The one thing I don't really like here is the use of CGI blood and effects at times which spoils the fun, although there are some nice gruesome hands on special effects in there too. For the most part the film has good production values and is decent eye candy but I just hate the reliance on CGI when we know they don't have to.I think violent mayhem and carnage sums this up pretty well, all delivered by a chick in a tight fitting outfit, so its one for the lads then. Totally crazy with larger than life characters (Gary Busey is a bad guy...say no more), bucket loads of goo, silly quickfire quips and ass. Plus points for visuals, some sweet real time gore effects and the whole idea, minus points for not taking that idea further, CGI bits and the fact they copy many other films. Its a cartoonish riot but everybody involved knows it so just go along for the ride.6/10

Just caught the film Bounty Killer on Netflix last night. It's WONDERFUL. It's a violent exploitation flick set in the near future where corporate power has so far outstripped government power that the corporations have actually started warring with each other and turned much of America into a wasteland. This leads to an nascent government called the Council of 9 to arise. The Council of 9 starts issuing Death Warrants with considerable rewards on various corporate heads, and a class of bounty hunters arise to collect those rewards, becoming folk heroes in the process as they drive the mangled corpses of One Percenters to their ragtag villages to collect their rewards. The basic appeal of this film is seeing One percenter corporate honchos and their minions getting shotgun-blasted, stabbed, and machine-gunned by regular guys. It delivers a fair amount of that. Of course, the corporate types fight back, there's your conflict, and it's all great fun if you don't think about it seriously for more than a nanosecond. The film has two major flaws. One, the filmmaker is obvious deeply enamored of Mad Max and set much of his film in the California desert with various oddly-dressed sorts riding around at high speed on motorcycles, cars and Winnebagos and stabbing and shooting each other. There's also a bunch of degenerate, cannibalistic wasteland dwellers called "gypsies" who do violent things a lot because they're just violent people, who are in my opinion a complete waste, as they contribute nothing to the main theme of regular guys vs. evil corporate scumbags. The other major flaw is that the Mad Max imitation just makes the film look cheap. So many bad Roger Corman flicks have been set in run down shacks in the California deserts cause it's cheap that any film that imitates Mad Max just looks like another Roger Corman cheapie. If the film had focused more sharply on its central theme of corporate scumbags vs. heavily armed regular folks, it would have been much, much better, but the Mad Max imitation stuff just kinda kidnaps the movie and waters down its central theme.Still, there are several extended scenes of regular guys in stylish desert leathers invading corporate cubicle farms and shooting and stabbing and beating up on One Percenters in three piece suits ... something so SATISFYING about seeing a Wall Street type get a shotgun to the face ... mmmmm. I know it's revenge porn, but it's the only kind of revenge we seem to be able to get nowadays. Enjoy!

If you like your low budget action movies, spiced with Science Fiction, Western and one super hot leading lady, you could do worse than this. This dystopia of a future this is set in, might drag Mad Max comparisons with it, but this is a different beast. But a very enjoyable one, if you are in the mood for it.It's also not for the faint of hearted. Very graphic scenes (of violence, just one scene that involves nudity) will either appeal to you or be appalling, depending on your taste. This being independent they had some freedom (apparently) and they used it. Republicans might feel this movie does demonize capitalism and people with money, but reading too much into the movie would be a bad thing ... Just enjoy it for what it is
