Load of rubbish!!
... View MoreA bit overrated, but still an amazing film
... View MoreIt's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
... View MoreWhile it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
... View MoreWhile the idea for the film is a good premise with loads of potential, the film becomes another one of the many average found footage films. The plot is simple enough, a documentary group sets out to make a film about monsters while they know they don't exist. When they finally get 3 supposed monsters to be in the documentary, they set up an interview at a creepy old house, but when they finish the interviews, the supposed monsters show their true form. The story unfortunately is just that, a good idea but they fail flesh out this story and it ends up being too thin. They try to add other story elements but they go by so quick and don't effect the rest of the film.First of all, the acting is very hit and miss, some of the actors do a serviceable job in their roles, but a couple of the actors are so ridiculous and over-done that it made wish they would just stop talking. The visuals also are hit and miss, while the make-up for the skinwalker is very cool, the special effects in other areas are very low quality, something you would see in a bargain bin at Walmart. The film also fails to set a tone like many other found footage films like Blair Witch Project, it just goes from scene to scene with no consistence, though the lighting is moody and effective at moments. The film also tries to be existential and though provoking regarding the ideas of good and evil, but the are cliched and has all been done before. So in short, the film is hit and miss, some very strong scenes and film elements, but unfortunately some very unflattering acting and special effects.
... View MoreMixed emotions by seeing the monsters. look, the first half is rather boring and even the interviews with the three monsters isn't satisfying. But I waited to see what the fuzz was all about and indeed, after half throughout this flick things go wrong. Is it original, no it doesn't because this is done years back when mockumentaries and found footage flicks were a hype. And yes, even here it's all shot in night vision when the creatures are awake. On part of the effects that is rather above mediocre. Clearly based on jump scene's. So for me it's a trip down nostalgia, not a good story and some moments even too cliché and even laughable but the last part makes it worth picking up.Gore 1/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 2,5/5 Story 2/5 Comedy 0/5
... View MoreMonster Project has an interesting concept, it's a found footage horror film about a group of annoying characters that want to interview people that think they're real monsters. However things get complicated when the three people they're interviewing are actual monsters. The middle of the film is definitely the best part, where they explore the haunted house where they're conducting the interviews, and then do the actual interviews. I enjoyed a lot of the things they did with the interviews, as they play around with the rules of the monsters. The problem parts of the film come before and after that, with the beginning being full of annoying and pointless character drama delivered by mediocre to bad actors. The worst being the camera man, which is one of the biggest sins a found footage film can have, as no one likes having an annoying guy talking off screen (and obviously in a sound booth) while everything's going on. The movie after the interviews is also deeply flawed, as a lot of monster rules set up during the interview are immediately broken. With the vampire going from a tattoo artist that licks her canvas's blood as part of her payment, to being a mindless beast. The skinwalker is also turned immediately into a generic werewolf, with the generic characteristics including a scratch turning the victim into a werewolf, even though the film went out of it's way to describe how someone becomes a skinwalker (murdering a family member). The CGI for the girl possessed by a demon is also really bad and distracting. I won't spoil the end, but I will say that it's also incredibly stupid, and there's a stupid Bagul scare at the very end.Overall, I'd advise people to stay away from Monster Factory unless you're a huge Found Footage Horror fan. ... View MoreSo here is my honest review. This was a GREAT movie that could of been. Perfect to watch on Halloween night but the "Jamal" character really ruined it for me. I don't understand why they felt the need to have a stereotypical black man who is over the top on his "Homie" personality. His acting was over the top from the get go which made this feel fake. I think many will agree with me on this. Now to the good stuff! The Blair Witch style is something I've always liked, the camera wasn't too shaky to make it enjoyable to watch. The story is cool, the monsters are cool and the rest of the actors were great. If you cut the Jamal character out this movie It becomes something really worth watching. Overall it was fun to watch just hard to take it seriously with the Jamal dude over acting.
