The Lesson tells the story of Zane, a devoted teacher mentoring the senior class in a Latvian high school. She tries to live her life in the most meaningful way possible. She takes her mission as a teacher seriously, and works hard to help her students develop their talents. Even so, as a younger teacher it’s hard for Zane to keep her distance from the class – the students soon become a sort of family to her. When she realizes she’s falling in love with one of them, the others start to feel left out. She faces a stark choice between personal happiness and the pressures of society.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

This movie is entertaining and really keeps your attention. The story is quite interesting, though has a really disappointing ending. If it wasn't a movie made by my own country's people, I would have rated it a little bit worse, but for Latvian cinema - it is really watchable, particularly judging by the films that have been made so far.The actors were not professional actors, so if we keep that in mind, they were not bad. What wasn't understandable for me was the choice that the teacher made. To run away with her lover to Russia not even knowing that his grandmother has already passed away... Really? The advertising in my opinion was very smart, there wasn't a day when I wouldn't had seen ''Izlaiduma Gads'' written on the asphalt with chalk somewhere.

Went with big expectations but was very disappointed. This movie had a huge advertising in my country, but everything important was shown on trailer, so there was no secret left. I've seen many Oscar award wining movies with a bit similar story line or style and I hoped this one was going to be as good or at least close as good as those, but it wasn't In this film acting is so bad that you can not see any emotion in actors facial expressions or eyes while by the story line there should be some great soul struggles and life changing events. There are no motivation beyond any character's action.Awful direction, screenplay and acting.
