Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The film has a frantic pace and the first scene is the discovery of a police officer found dead in a rubbish pit. At the funeral his colleagues vow to kill the men responsible and track them down to a condemned and abandoned tower block on the city outskirts. The raid isn't too successful and the police find themselves at the mercy of the violent gang members. However, something stirs outside in the night and within minutes all hell breaks loose. The cops and gang members must reluctantly work together if they want to escape from the tower block alive. There are one or two scenes of complete overkill and plenty of blood to keep zombie fans happy. Don't really know to refer to them as zombies or not but they are like the infected in 28 days later. The film only really slows down in the middle for a short period before heading to a bloody and violent conclusion. Certainly one of the better zombie films to be released in the last few years and very enjoyable.

The Horde plays as an action movie, and it's not a bad one. Dahan and Rocher make their run-down setting an integral part of the action; it dictates what the cops and crooks can do without ever feeling arbitrary. The balance of power shifts often enough to keep the audience guessing a little. Both shootouts and hand-to-hand combat are well-choreographed and bloody, which is actually pretty impressive - there really aren't that many zombie movies that make a fight between the living and the undead work, especially when the protagonists don't have much in the way of firearms and large blades at their disposal (it helps that the infected in this movie are on the fast side).Prostheses and gore are pretty good, although the lighting sometimes hides just how good. Some of the digital effects aren't quite as good as they could be, perhaps - though the movie is mostly practical effects, there's always something not quite right about the smoke in the background.7/10

The Horde is one of those zombie films that concentrates on action rather than adhering to the standard (and more graphic) formula espoused by directors like George A. Romero and Lucio Fulci. The main difference between the two styles is that in the action-type movies the zombies are sometimes not the slow-moving type--they move fast. In this case extremely fast. This deviation from the norm (which is becoming much more common lately) often has its good points--and its bad points. Obviously, it gives an action film a shot of adrenalin which is highly preferred by those who enjoy this kind of film. Unfortunately, because the action often dominates everything, it sometimes diminishes any chance of good acting. It can also stunt much needed character development causing the film to seem somewhat shallow. This movie is no exception. However, the quality of the action is such that it manages to hide these faults for the most part. Likewise, the version I saw was dubbed in English but it also turned out to be a non-factor due to the fast pace overall. While it may not be as graphic as some zombie fans would like, it does offer plenty of violence and blood throughout which might appease all but the most die-hard fans of gore. In summation, it has its faults but if you're a zombie fan it is definitely worth watching. If you're not into zombies then it's still a good enough action film that's still probably worth a look.

When a group of corrupt Parisian cops seek revenge on a Nigerian mafia circle, for the murder of one of their friends, things go wrong for them when they find themselves on the wrong end of the ambush. Trapped in a condemned block of flats, life for the cops couldn't be worse. Well, at least they thought so. That was before they realised that the outside world has transformed into bloodthirsty Zombies!!! With little to no hope of survival on their own, the cops and mafia do the unthinkable. Join forces, in order to repel the horde of Zombies, in an effort to get out of there alive. If you want a Horror film that will make you think and poses a strong message, I would say forget about seeing this one. If you want a film that doesn't hold back on excessive violence at nearly every breath, then this is the best ticket in town. I would compare this to more of a video game. In that you get very limited character background, and it just goes headlong into a craze of violence and action, before you can blink an eye. Let me tell you one thing. The action in this film, will please any fan of Action. The horror element, obviously, is strong, but at no stage will you be scared. The Zombies in this film cop one hell of a beating, and you may even find yourself feeling sorry for the Zombies! I know, crazy right? Well that's the kind of film this is. Just balls to the wall action from start to finish. By the time the film reaches its conclusion, you will be thinking "I need to catch my breath" before popping it back into the DVD player for a repeat viewing! Fantastic fun! Like it should be!
