what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

I've never been moved to post a review on IMDb but considering the number of Adam Sandler films that rank in the 6s something had to be done to make a case for this little gem. And a gem it is if, like me, you're a fan of the puerile as long as it's accompanied with a healthy pinch of sardonic humour. There is something of the genius about this movie. Something refreshingly honest about the performances, the colour palettes, the lame jokes, the physical humour, the songs, the locations, the props. To get some of the references it may help if you've grown up in the UK during the 70s and 80s or currently have children under 16 however the appeal is somewhat broader and the performances from all of the cast are nuanced, tongue firmly in cheek and the pacing and story is gentle and above all it's just fun. Consider the fact that you've got Harry Potter alumni in the cast - Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent - stars of UK screen - then you know you've got a solid British backbone to play off. Harry Hill is unphased, effortlessly gooning about in front of the camera and then you've also got great performances by Simon Bird, a bewildered Johnny Vegas as the voice of Abu and also (pop band) the Magic Numbers singing a lovely song about running a Bed and Breakfast on the British seaside.Yes it's silly, yes it's obvious, yes it's simple but it's also evocative of the past triumphs of niche British cinema. It nods to our failings and to our weaknesses and to our guilty pleasures - and even the obviously filled in bits (Brains on legs, random shell people) don't detract from the fact that's it's just fun. Like an updated an detitillated Carry On movie - it's the best of British and I hope they make a follow up.Try it out, suspend your disbelief, have a giggle.

I only decided to comment after seeing someone compare it favorably with Norman Wisdom films! Norman was a comedy genius, outstanding in his time who outsold Bond films. Unfortunately, this messy little comedy is nowhere near that league. Aimed at a dumbed down audience, it grinds along like a stalled car being pushed. Frankly am amazed so many good actors chose to be in this, unless they felt HH might be flavor of the month due to his TV ratings. However, when reading the lines as though they were on a page, it beggars belief they signed up at all! What a fall. It's just daft, and in some places a bit crude. I got the feeling little to no thought went into the plot or story-line, and they hoped the actors presence alone could pull it off. Unfortunately, it falls flat. Very amateurish all around. The actors seem half asleep and the director could well be a chimpanzee! One of those, we hope the TV ratings mean this rubbish will sell, one-off jobs to make a quick buck. What a load of rubbish!

First of all i liked harry hill doing TV burp he was funny. Now he is dead to me he does not make me laugh like he used to. The film makes no sense and its just as bad as Keith lemon the film (oh the horror of that film). This movie has to be as bad as transformers 2. Julie Walters has good in her career but now she went the wrong way in acting. Harry hill's credit to comedy is gone like the hair on his head. Harry hills TV burp will never be the same again. The reason i give this movie 2 stars out of 10 is because i liked the idea that harry hill wanted to do a movie instead of just TV.Bad bad bad bad bad bad. This movie is so bad it makes Adam sanders jack and Jill look a wee bit good. Bad bad bad bad bad bad. If you liked this movie you either 1 love bad comedy's or 2 don't have a life and you laugh at anything.

As someone who was in hysterics watching Harry Hill live I decided to watch this movie as there was a relatively funny trailer. I came with absolutely no illusions this was going to be in the running for the Oscars, but I did at least expect it to be funny. The first 5 or 10 minutes were OK - I thought the chicken scene was what Harry Hill is best at. Then came the Simon Bird character. As I have never been a fan of the inbetweeners, I didn't know what to expect from this comedy "genius". I didn't expect much and wasn't disappoint - this guy simply cannot do comedy! The film ran out of steam 10 minutes in, the remainder of the time was like watching a university comedy troupe, without talent or comedic timing.Quite frankly the film was a TV skit stretched out. Far too long - even with its short run time! I cannot express how deeply disappointing this film was. The only way I can think people actually enjoyed this is if the watched the opening 10 mins then had to leave.I would be happy to watch Harry live, but on film - you FAILED BIG TIME!
