Fantastic!
... View MoreIt's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
... View MoreThe movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
... View MoreOne of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
... View MoreI once read that if you give a typewriter infinite time to a monkey, such monkey will eventually type Hamlet, for instance. In the case of "Dark Tape", somebody gave a bunch untalented people some filming equipment and not enough time... The result is "Dark Tapes".
... View MoreThe acting, directing, editing and makeup is amateur. The generated effects are surprisingly well done.Generally it feels like watching a film via a camcorder your friends found in the trash. The editor had an intimate relationship with a static effect; looping the unvariated anoyance every few minutes. It did cover up some terrible fruit juice blood and it was better then watching the attempted acting. Though, it does help to hear the story. Let's look over at this table and the things on it. We return and let's focus on the same table with no things on it. Let's focus on this other table - omg - the things are on it. Like a graphic designer drawing attention to an area by making the text BIGGER. Could we not have had someone touch an object, or put their feet up and move the objects out of the way? That's the theme of how every single story-board missed its mark.Even if the people, effects and scenes felt more natural/unforced. The sound echoed and was hard to hear. The actors did not play off eachother's queues; constantly pausing to look at - their lines? The shaky camera didn't make sense in scenes where it was on a stationary laptop. The entire plotline was explained through yelling and static. Could we not have developed a lengthy story in other scenes? This movie had potential if they first hired a real editor. Then got all new sound crew, actors, writers, story boarders and director. Keep the awesome scenes with the shadowy girl or creature in the dark.
... View MoreThis is not a movie. It's a collection of short clips with no correlation to each other. It employees infamous actors and perhaps low budget director as well. There are no connection between one story to another. It just shows a bunch of jump-scares effect, but without any terrifying stuff. In one of the scene, you can clearly see an actor with a part-ghost part-monster costume. Surely, it's a low budget movie with very low quality story line.I wonder this could ever be on theaters? And who would even want to pay to watch it?
... View MoreSo, I'm a pretty big fan of point-of-view films, I think they have a great potential to make the inane quite horrifying, but this film really does nothing for the genre. Seeing the amount of awards it has raked in, the amount of good reviews, I just had to see it. Boy oh boy was I disappointed. If you can ignore the special effects and costumes that are so bad you can see parts of them literally peeling off, and the visual effects so bad you can see they were done in an amateur editing program (where they didn't even change the font from the default), then maybe this is something for you.It has a few novel concepts, but never really goes anywhere with them, save for one disturbing segment that could have been something if they hadn't throw in something supernatural to tie it in with the rest. In one segment they mention that time has frozen and thus they can't even hear their own footsteps... But you can clearly still hear them. Is this a joke?
