The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

Though slightly cheesy, this is probably THE ultimate seishun (youth love) film. "Houtai Club" is about a group of teenagers tying bandages around the city to heal emotional wounds for anyone who requests it in their website. Of course tying bandages in random places doesn't do anything, but it's true knowing someone cares do help. This film explores the idea that by healing and understanding other's pain, you can heal your own.I usually hate this kind of cheesy Utopian ideas, but it was presented extremely well. The story is very interesting and very well directed. I've seen Ishihara Satomi in many TV drama series, but this is by far her best performance (not to mention cute). Although I thought the 2-hour length was a bit too long for this movie and there were couple of cheesy lines, it was a great life-altering film.
