Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

Orphaned high school student Rick Riker is bitten by a radioactive dragonfly, develops super powers (except for the ability to fly), and becomes a hero. As a big fan of the Scary Movie Quadrilogy this movie couldn't be more awesome i mean if you loved X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Batman and pretty much every Superhero movie that was released during the early and late 90's but also the early 00's you're definitely going to love this movie as well. It has some terrific cameos, great comedy and the acting was very good plus Leslie Nielsen. (10/10)

Seen this in Comedy Central and lemme tell ya, it needs to be taking off completely because it is just rubbish. Drake Bell honestly cant act well and neither could the rest of the cast in this. Hes much better when hes Spider-man and quite honestly, he should've been the next Spider-man instead of "not out of puberty yet" Tom Holland. I don't understand why they had to create this, its just lame like its other stupid films such as Scary Movie, Epic Movie, Date Movie and Disaster movie. Seriously, they are all disgusting and stupid, they need to not exist in the film world, they don't deserve to be in the film industry anyway.. Rubbish and not funny................

This one is spoofing a lot on the Spiderman franchise as well plenty from every other superhero movie. Rick Riker (Drake Bell) is the geeky student. He is infatuated with fellow student Jill Johnson (Sara Paxton). Trey (Kevin Hart) is his best friend. They go to Lou Landers (Christopher McDonald)'s labs on a school excursion. There he is bitten by a mutant dragonfly. He lives with his uncle Albert (Leslie Nielsen) and aunt Lucille (Marion Ross) since he lost his parents. There are a lot of bad spoof movies these days. This one is the best of a bad lot. At least it's actually following a functional superhero movie story. And the best thing may be that it has Leslie Nielsen. Nobody can tell a deadpan joke quite like him. He still hits it out of the park time and time again. Drake Bell is not necessarily a good actor and the movie suffers because of him. It comes close but it's not good enough to recommend. The classics are still unsurpassed.

i was surfing through netflix when i came across the aforementioned film, Superhero movie. i remember watching this film a few years back but i barely remembered anything about it. i remembered that the recent 'movie' films have all been disgusting pieces of cinematic Hitler, but i saw that David Zucker of 'airplane' and 'naked gun' fame was directing and it also had Leslie Nielsen, so i set my hopes for somewhere in the middle. The result:It works!! its a recent spoof comedy thats actually worth watching!!granted it still falls into the same trap of making pop culture references, but there aren't enough to make it a total hindrance. it is very hit and miss, but actually hits more often than one would think. Drake Bell's performance was entertaining, but a good portion of his jokes are just looking awkward or disgusted, which once again, is hit and miss. I also enjoyed Leslie Nielsen's performance, but it was sad to see some of the material he had to do, but apart from that his world famous timing is impeccable.overall, when its funny, its pretty damn funny, but when it flops, it really flops. it has the heart of the old spoof comedies which really adds to the film and makes it worthwhile to watch, but don't expect utter genius. put your standards in the middle, put your feet up, grab a beer and a joint and just relax and watch, you'll get more laughs than you'll expect.
