I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

Not his worst movie! Yes, he's overweight, mostly immobile, mumbles his lines (when not overdubbed) and pretends he's black. He has strange dyed hair and orange skin. But look, some of his fellow actors here are not bad. Vinnie Jones plays Henry, and still looks good in his fight scenes, Nick Brimble is Lehder, William Hope is Fletcher, and Alison King and the lovely Christine Adams play the female roles. This time our hero plays Chris Kody, the world's best mercenary – he must use his lethal weapons and fighting skills to stop a group of terrorists who have taken over a nuclear sub.For a straight-to-video film this is about average. Yes, it's clearly not set in Uruguay (it's set in Bulgaria) and the plot is illogical. But if you want to watch a Segal movie that's truly bad (and there can be an odd pleasure in this) then watch Out of Reach or Hard to Kill.

Submerged has no heart, no soul and most importantly a clear lack of motivation from the once popular Mr. Seagal. I love Steven Seagal because I grew up with him, and he's bad ass, but I am tired of being disappointed with his lousy work as of late. Throughout the movie we have to sit through a bunch of boring and lousy dialog, with characters I couldn't give a damn about. The story is very confusing and inconsistent with one character who has a flashback about his wife that was recurring throughout the 1st half, until the story is randomly dropped altogether without real explanation. Seagal's ego also shows here, because the movie has the potential to give us one of the greatest Martial Art scraps of all time between Seagal and Gary Daniels, but he throws him around like he's an amateur, which angered me to no end. The action itself is very sparse, only really picking up near the end with Seagal laughably running rampant with a car, perhaps thinking it will makeup for all the dull padding he put in the movie. I really don't like to use a review that's full of bashing, but there really isn't anything good to say about it, Vinnie Jones chewed up the scenery nice I guess?.Performances. Steven Seagal's performance is hard to judge overall because he's dubbed half the time with different accents, even a country one!. It's clear Seagal could care less about this project, it shows in the fight scenes and the pained expression on his face. The once unique charisma he had doesn't even slightly resemble that Seagal. He wears a baggy coat to try and hide the extra baggage he's carrying and he has one of the most unintentionally funny lines after his fight scene with Gary Daniels yelling in anger "Cok*sker, Muttherfuu*ker". Vinnie Jones makes the most of the film and delivers a delightful OTT performance. Gary Daniels is wasted and does what he can with his material. Bottom line. There is no redeeming things to say about this movie. It's pure crap in every sense of the word, and even die-hard Seagal fans will struggle to get into it. Not recommended in the slightest.1/10

Seagal's workload was huge in 2005. He had four releases: "Into The Sun", "Submerged", "Today You Die", and "Black Dawn" . As long as the paychecks keep coming, he churns them out like there's no tomorrow. This time around, Seagal plays "Chris Cody" who is released from prison to go on one last assignment: To infiltrate some double agents or something. It's very confusing. You also can't see what's going on most of the time because to hide Seagal's nonstop weight gain, he is shrouded in black (note all his black clothing). All you see is Seagal's fat head. He also doesn't do his own ADR work. He once again uses a voice double that sounds NOTHING like him. But this time he was trying to be clever and put on an "Cajun accent" to fool people. The saving graces are the performances by those wacky Brits Vinnie Jones and Gary Daniels. Here's an idea: Vinnie Jones Vs. Gary Daniels in a duel to the death! Now there's an action movie! This movie was a total let down for me, I was really disappointed with the whole thing. I have never seen Steven Segal in something as dire as this garbage. The only thing going for the film was the gorgeous and sexy Christine Adams - a real treat for the eye - her mere presence in the movie being the only reason I saw this crap through to the bitter end. Both Segal and Adams can do much better than this, they are worthy of much greater things. To be honest, I found the whole thing very hard-going and difficult to keep up with. Usually I am "on the ball" with movies and can figure out what is going on right from the start. This movie, however, had me confused right from the start. What was it all about exactly? Maybe I don't know the answer to that because I totally lost interest in the whole thing after 45 minutes or so.A total waste of rental money.
