Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery Trailers

As a swinging fashion photographer by day and a groovy British superagent by night, Austin Powers is the '60s' most shagadelic spy. But can he stop megalomaniac Dr. Evil after the bald villain freezes himself and unthaws in the '90s? With the help of sexy sidekick Vanessa Kensington, he just might.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

A 1960s hipster secret agent is brought out of cryofreeze to oppose his greatest enemy in the 1990s, where his social attitudes are glaringly out of place. This is definitely a film that unfortunately hasn't aged that well i'm afraid but still packs some good fun and jokes and makes it completely safe. Mike Myers is pretty good as both Powers and Dr. Evil although it's one of my less favorite Spy spoof series. The action is pretty good, some cameos are alright and the humor was kind of a hit and miss depending on what you like really. But as a movie? it's pretty good and watchable for sure. (7.5/10)

I really didn't want to see this, I had never liked Myers. For some reason I let myself get talked into going to the second movie and watching this as prep. Well, it turns out I do like Myers. This is on my list of movies I'd rate an 11 if I could. This has amazing eye candy, great tunes AND to hilarious effect it refuses to behave. This is a must see movie for fans of outrageous silliness. I can still watch this yearly.

After an evil genius by the name of "Dr. Evil" (Mike Myers) has himself cryogenically frozen in order to return when the world least expects it, the secret agent known as "Austin Powers" (also played by Mike Myers) allows himself to undergo the same process to thwart any future attempts of world domination. What neither of them count on is the manner in which the world has changed and their ability to adapt poses a serious problem for both of them. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this movie provided an amusing contrast between life in the 60's and life in Western society 30 years later. No doubt those familiar with the 60's will appreciate much of the humor in this parody of several James Bond films. Likewise, the presence of both Elizabeth Hurley (as "Vanessa Kensington") and Fabiana Udenio ("Alotta Fagina") certainly didn't hurt the scenery in any way either. Unfortunately, I thought some of the comedy was unnecessarily crude which, in my opinion, negated the film's overall entertainment value to a certain degree and for that reason I have rated it accordingly. Average.

"Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" is a pretty funny spoof of the spy genre, especially making fun of the James Bond movies. I did thought this movie was hilariously funny, when I was young back then. Now by looking back at it, it was not as hilariously funny as I remember. Don't get me wrong I still think that this is a funny movie, but it wasn't as hilariously funny as I remember. When you have some dirty jokes in the movie like having our two lead actors getting naked, it just depends on whether is funny or not; at times it can be funny, and at times it can't. I just only wish if the jokes where funny if they would make me laugh the most. Nevertheless, the movie is still funny. Aside from the humor, some of the CG effects of the Big Boy weren't that good either, but it does not take me out of the movie as I am enjoying it. So those are the only parts where I have issues with, but they are not really a big deal. I thought Mike Myers has done a great job for not only writing the script, but playing two parts in the movie. Elizabeth Hurley is absolutely stunning in the movie, and she does manage to take on the role pretty well. The action scenes were done fine, but nothing spectacular about it. You do get some nice cameos like Will Ferrell, Tom Arnold, and such. The movie does hold up really well, but the jokes and the CG effects of the Big Boy could have been better. I still enjoy this movie and I am giving it a 9 out of 10.
