A 1960s hipster secret agent is brought out of cryofreeze to oppose his greatest enemy in the 1990s, where his social attitudes are glaringly out of place. This is definitely a film that unfortunately hasn't aged that well i'm afraid but still packs some good fun and jokes and makes it completely safe. Mike Myers is pretty good as both Powers and Dr. Evil although it's one of my less favorite Spy spoof series. The action is pretty good, some cameos are alright and the humor was kind of a hit and miss depending on what you like really. But as a movie? it's pretty good and watchable for sure. (7.5/10)

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery is a brilliant movie with a very well written storyline and a fantastic comedic cast. It is certainly one of my favourite feel good comedies, it instantly makes me smile and puts me in a good mood every time I watch, it has many memorable quotes and strange, unrelatable, but very lovable characters. The only scenes that bother me in this movie is when they go way too far with a joke, such as the scene where Austin is urinating or the death of one of Dr. Evil's henchman, it dosen't suit the tone of humour that we see in the majority of the film and is more so annoying than funny. The performances are outstanding, they seemed very hard to do as they are very high energy and it seems as if the whole cast didn't deliver, the entire movie would stumble, but luckily they all did very well, Mike Myers is the highlight of the film of course, playing both the protagonist and the antagonist, he shines in both roles and it is very hard to believe that Austin Powers and Dr. Evil are the same person, they are simply iconic performances. Hilarious from start to finish with memorable quotes and lovable characters, I would recommend Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery to anyone looking for a good comedy. Special agent Austin Powers is defrosted after 30 years in a cryogenic freeze to match wits with his nemesis, Dr. Evil. Best Performance: Mike Myers Worst Performance: Paul Dillon

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997): Dir: Jay Roach / Cast: Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley, Robert Wagner, Seth Green, Mimi Rogers: They call him the international man of mystery perhaps for his ability to spellbind his female admirers. Satire of James Bond films beginning in 1967 where Austin Powers foils a world domination scheme by Dr. Evil who freezes himself and launches into space. Thirty years later Powers is thawed and given the task of stopping Dr. Evil again. Slapstick violence highlights the climax with use of a penis enlarger to tag on the double ending. Director Jay Roach exploits the Bond clichés with Dr. Evil making for a hilarious villain. Mike Myers embodies both Powers and Evil with great comic timing. Elizabeth Hurley plays an agent trying to maintain focus. Unfortunately the role is cardboard standard issue and never rises above being a simple sex tease. Her only real function is to be hit on by Powers. Robert Wagner steals scenes as agent Number Two in a role that also seems standard until he has a breakdown moment. Seth Green is terrific as Dr. Evil's son Scott who resents his dad and desires to be an animal vet. Mimi Rogers plays Austin's partner in the 1960's and Hurley turns out to be the product of their partnership. Highlighted with frozen images of celebrities past their prime resulting in a colourful laugh riot. Score: 7 ½ / 10

This was an enjoyable experience. Mike Myers found a way to take a well-known spy icon and make him feeble-minded yet at the same time, gain our affection for him from start to finish. A very smart and original idea that would have backfired if the material was handed to someone else. The movie follows Austin Powers frozen from the 60s and thawed to resume his life in the contemporary 90s.Elizabeth Hurley joins him as the sexy sidekick and together, they must stop Dr. Evil from taking over the world through power & extortion. Austin has to save the day while trying to blend into the modern world. There are plenty of great laughs and pop culture references that are similar to what Myers did in Wayne's World. Here, the jokes are fresh and the character is so memorable, even though he has his flaws.I can safely say that this is the best in the series yet. The other two sequels aren't as good, but they're all still a bunch of fun to watch. This was the era when Mike Myers was truly in the strongest position of his career. Before you see the other two, give this one a watch and have a few laughs with some friends!
