Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

I literally lived 2 blocks from where this movie was filmed for almost a year.It was good to see SUMMERS again, where some of this movie was filmed, and I spent lots of time while blowing a ton of money on an extended vacation back in 83,as well as in Penrod's,the Candy Store,The Button, and the Elbo Room. The Elbo room was still there last time I went to Ft.Liquordale a few years back, but I think the rest have been replaced or removed.I believe "the Breeze&Seas" was a building directly in back of Summers across the street. It was fun to watch this last night seeing those places again, because the last time I went there, the place was nearly unrecognizable.Lots of building going on there. All of this pretty much took place before Ft.Lauderdale decided to run spring break out of town, where it re-spawned in Panama City beach. That double-selling of rooms happened a lot back then!

Even as a boobs& bikinis comedy it was dull. There were far more scantily clad men than women, which didn't improve things considering the genre of this film. The colour obviously wasn't that great on the film print either; everyone's skin is a bright angry red. The 80s styles are to be expected but no less horrible: men in short shorts with no shirt, white socks pulled up high and white tennis shoes, topped off with a boofy butt-head hairstyle. The plot was exactly the same plot as all films of this genre, with no elaboration or clever twists: Young men go on holiday to get away from parents and "get laid". stay at cheap hotel, a corrupt developer wants to close hotel to build a resort (or something), the young men vow to help save the place. They DO save it and the nerdy one finds his true love/lust partner, everyone parties. Characters were thin, performances were at the same level as a late 70s porn movie- that isn't hyperbole either, it's an honest description.

Gay men trying to get chicks while drunk. Sound like a winner. This is the best party movie ever made with geeks. It's dated but a heartwarming story of Nelson trying to get laid. There is no substance at all and there should not be. This is a film that shows what Fort Lauderdale was like in the late 70's - early 80's. I was there at that time and it's just like this film. In fact except for the Hotel being closed so Nelson's step father can win a uhm oh whatever... it's a documentary. Wet t shirt contests, drinking games and sweaty sticky sex. Look for a cameo by Bob Guccioni's ex and Penthouse Pet of the year Sheila Kennedy (Scott Baio is 45 and single). Good soundtrack too.

This movie rules for a couple reasons: 1) Corrine Alphen, hotness incarnate 2) Nerds get laid and look cool doing it 3)The most audacious belly flop scene in cinematic history. ...and who can forget 'The amazing Gut-Gut'!? It simple, it's fun, and I wish it would come out on DVD. I love this movie and would swoop it up in a heartbeat. It's also a great anti-establishment movie as our hero crushes the efforts of his politician step-dad to crush his Ft Lauderdale fling. I can't say enough about this film. Should it win an Oscar? No. Is it timeless, mindless fun to help you reminisce about the past or forget about the present? Heck yeah.
