The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

I enjoyed this for the most part. It has moments of humour that everyone will chuckle at as well as some moments that only people with the darkest, driest sense of humour will understand. It would be easy to assume this is similar in tone to Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, but it isn't. It has an extremely dark, uncomfortable atmosphere almost throughout and this will put some people off. I feel if this film were any longer it would be hard to sit through. Two things that put me off slightly was the hand-held camera work. It depleted the sense of isolation in some scenes and would have been more effective if the camera was locked down. Another thing was the ending. Without giving anything away, the ending was lazy on the writers' part and made almost no sense. All in all though, I would recommend this film to anyone who gets British humour and likes quirky, dark comedy.

A pretty good comeback for Ben Wheatley, after his awfully disappointing 'Kill list'. The opening was terrific (reminding me a little of 'Kynodontas' in some ways), with a terrific choice for Soft Cell's 'Tainted love', sending the duo off on their surprising campaign. The first murder seemed a little quick and off-handed, though, as were some moments later on as well. But mostly, these two lovers / sightseers were a fun pair to follow, the tone of things was aptly understated, with a load of black, black humour to boot. Alice Lowe and Steve Oram did terrific jobs, but every other single member of the cast fitted the bill perfectly as well. And, finally, rainy old U.K. and its many amazing sights provided a wonderful backdrop.8 out of 10.

Ever heard of the term predictability? Well this movie defines it. I know that will surprise some people since this is supposed to be a fan favourite. The only thing is that more than 40 years ago, there was a movie called Badlands which pretty had similar ideas but just done with more seriousness. I didn't like that movie that much anyway. Right from the first crime, I had an idea of how this movie was going to progress. Ultimately though I thought this movie was supposed to be a comedy movie. I don't care about originality if it made me laugh. I don't think it ever succeeded in doing that. Maybe this is British humour. Well if this is British humour, I don't think I want to check out anything else in the genre. The movie plods on from one murder to another. The final scene was interesting but again I don't see how that really changes anything in the movie. I don't see how the character intends to get away with it considering there are witnesses for everything. One by one the murders happen with fortunately no witnesses (yeah right). I don't see how when you kill people in open spaces, you can really avoid being sighted by someone. I guess British police are really incompetent if they can't solve a trail of murders which are committed on roads and other places. And hey, not even a single witness to anything. Fancy that? I think a little bit of realism would not hurt a movie. OK, so it was meant to be ridiculous. Then be fully ridiculous and over the top like say, Dead alive. The movie is quite stale and boring without those over the top elements which can make such a movie bearable. Character development? Who cares about all that stuff? You can forget about that aspect. The reason why these people are like this? Maybe they were just born nuts.Maybe it is my high expectations with Ben wheatley that has given me so much disappointment. The last 2 movies were frankly a waste of time. Maybe Kill List was an exception rather than the rule. 3/10

I watched this film because I had seen Alice Lowe in "Snuff Box" (more black comedy) and I was curious about her accent. So I didn't know what to expect. If you've read many comments, you'll know—lots of psychopathic violence.I may be wrong. Ben Wheatley may have just woken up and thought, "Wouldn't it be funny to have a mentally off-balance couple on vacation?" I assume that it's more than that, but the British like their comedy black. Here's my take. It seemed to me more about questions than statements:What role did Tina's mother play in the creation of a monster? Why did her mother dislike the boyfriend? Was she just being selfish or petty,or did she really see something evil in him? Would he have turned out the same way if not for the first accident? What is it that makes couples move toward each other—thinking alike, doing alike, trying to please the other—when the things they think or do are often so destructive? Is the movie saying something about a society that, while often rude, is civil and trusting enough that people put themselves in the path of murder without even being the least bit suspicious? What is going through the characters' heads as they commit each act? How many Chris's are there in society just waiting to pop? I think there is one statement that the movie is making: You don't have to like or sympathize with the main characters just because they're the main characters. Not every story has to have a hero. Just because you can't identify with or like the main characters doesn't make it a bad movie.I gave it 8 out of 10, not because I'm recommending it for everyone--far from it--but because I thought it was interesting in a way that so many movies are not.
