A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

This 2005 horror comedy stars Bill Goldberg, Douglas Smith, Emilie de Ravin and Robert Culp. Goldberg (WWE) headlines as a buff, evil version of Santa Claus who terrorizes small town, Hell Township on Christmas after a 1000 years. It's up to teen, Nicholas (Smith), his crackpot grandfather (Culp) and Mary (de Ravin), Nicholas' girlfriend to stop him. Dave Thomas (Rat Race), James Caan (Elf), Saul Rubinek (Unforgiven) and Fran Drescher (The Nanny) also make brief appearances. This is an amusing b-movie that pays tribute and pokes fun of holiday horror/slasher flicks. Goldberg's creepy and humorous performance makes the film worthwhile.

Move over Jimmy Stewart, I found my new Christmas Movie.Santa turns out to be the son of Satan, who is tricked into delivering toys for 1000 years. But now the period is up, and he goes around killing people in amusing ways. The opening sequence where a family of rich people are slaughtered is amusing for the cameos by bigger stars.Goldberg plays Evil Santa with a combination of humor and sadism. You have the teenage love story which works well, and the movie moves to a climax at a pretty good pace.Obviously, the Christmas themed murder gags are what makes this movie, and the victims are just unlikeable enough and the violence just cartoonish enough to make it entertaining.

Okay I will try not to compare this to superior Finnish film Rare Exports but it is impossible, unlike Rare Exports this has to make Halloween-remake-style-blood-and-gore-makes-most-of-the-movie style throughout. The plot, Santa is really the Devil's son and he lost a bet with an Angel a thousand years ago in return Santa will bring gifts to kids for a thousand years - when those years are up - he then starts to massacre random people. Is THIS all the people can come up with?!?!?!?!I will have reasons for why Rare Exports is FAR SUPERIOR, first off they made the mythology of Santa and changed it a little bit and turned him into a psycho that way, this however has "blood blood, blood and more blood" to make it's point of comedy.I think this would be a contender for a "worst Christmas movie ever" but it's #2 on my list of worst Christmas movies #1 is Santa Claus Conquers The Martians (yes I'm comparing).Everything this does wrong Rare Exports does right - watch that instead

I unabashedly love this film. It is the best kind of awful. The kind that is done with such love of cheese and camp that you can't help but think that everything is exactly as it should be.It has become a holiday tradition with with my fiancée and I. It's so outlandish and over the top that it helps us forget the stress of the holidays and just sit back and laugh. If you want a good Christmas movie. This isn't for you.If you want a good horror movie. This is also not for you.If you want something to make you laugh at absurdity during the holidays and love cheese and camp... this is definitely for you.
