Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Though Newsies was created in 1992, it still captures the eye of many people today. Newsies is a musical drama, and a family film(PG rating). It is set in New York City, New York, in 1899. Its running time is two hours and one minute, which I think is a great length for a movie. The film begins in the streets of New York City, where orphan Jack Kelly (Christian Bale) befriends David Jacobs (David Moscow) and his little brother Les Jacobs (Luke Edwards). These three boys team up with the Newsies of New York. Newsies are children who sell newspapers. The Newsies battle Joseph Pulitzer (Robert Duvall) over the new price increase. Personally, I liked the dancing aspect the most. Choreographer and director Kenny Ortega did an excellent job. The musical numbers were interactive and exciting to watch. The songs were meaningful and fun. However, I thought that there should have been more female characters in the film . There were only two female characters: Medda (Ann-Margaret), who provided a place for the Newsies to gather, and Sarah Jacobs (Ele Keats), who provided a love story. The historical accuracy in this film was mostly there, but I would have liked to see more about the Spanish American War and its role in the rise in prices of newspapers. Overall, I thought this film was worth your time. I would give it a rating of four out of five stars. Newsies has become a Broadway musical, or you can purchase it as a DVD from Amazon.com. Overall, I would say that Newsies delivered.

Newsies Continues to Inspire, EntertainInspiring, compelling, and entertaining are words I would use to describe the Newsies, a Disney movie released in 1992. This movie was directed by Kenny Ortega, who also directed Hocus Pocus, High School Musical, and Descendants. This film features the actors Christian Bale and David Moscow, two very important people displayed in the movie. The dancing and choreography performed by all of the boys was exciting and energetic! The dancing and singing value will make you want to jump out of your seat and dance along! The plot of this movie focuses on the 1899 child labor strike when children from all over came together in order to make an impactful change. In the movie, the boys were angered at the fact that the prices for newspapers went up because of Pulitzer and other bosses, however, historically the prices were also raised because of the Spanish American War. Also in the movie, the child leading everyone was a boy named Jack Kelly, however historically the boy that led one of the greatest child labor strikes was named Kid Blink. The dancing and singing really contributed to this movie because it kept you connected to the movie, and kept you entertained from the opening scene, never leaving you with boredom. The actors also contributed to and impacted the film because of their spontaneous personalities. Christian Bale and David Moscow provided laughter and excitement throughout the whole film. These two actors, as well as many other actors in the Newsies, won many awards for the film. One of my favorite quotes from the movie is "From now on, we trust no one but the Newsies", said by the character David Jacobs. This is one of my favorite quotes because the boys work hard for what they believe in while having fun along the way. I would recommend this movie to everyone, and would also recommend it to anyone who loves a good sing-along film!

What happens when you combine rising, young actors, catchy songs, and the magic of Disney? The movie musical Newsies is created. The film takes place in New York City, and centers its plot on the newsboys' strike of 1899. Newsies follows the story of a newspaper boy named Jack Kelly (Christian Bale) who becomes an unlikely hero during this rebellion against the great newspaper powers of Joseph Pulitzer (Robert Duvall) and William Hearst. After Pulitzer and Hearst decide to raise the price of a newspaper a tenth of a cent, the newsies find it completely unfair, and decide to rally together from all parts of the city and go on strike against the papers. With the help of friends like David (David Moscow) and his younger brother Les (Luke Edwards), Jack is successful in making the newspaper boy rebellion ignite a spark among all child laborers in New York to not stand for the unjust treatment anymore. Although the Newsies is based off the historical event of the newsboys' strike, it isn't entirely accurate. For example, Jack Kelly was not the leader of the strike in 1899; it was actually a young man known as Kid Blink. Aside from the multiple errors in historical accuracy, the Newsies is still worth the watch. The singing is phenomenal, and although cheesy at times, it helps keep the film lighthearted. The choreography and dancing makes you want to leap out of your chairs and move along with boys. There is a little bit of romance, a little bit of humor, a little bit of history, and a lot of fun for a family to watch. The Newsies will have you rooting for the underdogs, and it might make you want to enroll in a few dance classes! Rated PG

The Newsies Delivered"Newsies", a 1992 Disney musical, was filled with wonderful songs and dance numbers throughout that kept the audience singing along. It had a little bit of everything, from comedy to romance to action-packed chase scenes. This PG movie is about the newsboys in 1899 in New York City. They go on strike against Pulitzer, the head of the paper. The main character, Jack Kelley is portrayed by actor Christian Bale. Although this role is quite different from his role in Batman in 2005, he played it very well. His over the top New York accent is just what the audience needed. Some of the dance numbers are overly choreographed and end somewhat awkwardly, but it is a Disney musical after all. Unlike many movies, the story was mostly accurate. The ending was a little different, but it had the same idea all together. After watching this musical you will have "King of New York" stuck in your head for days. The Newsies fully delivered.
