Slow pace in the most part of the movie.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

Like all great empires of history, they end. Some wither and die away, and some come to an inglorious end. The latter is thus what describes The Final Insult. After seeing what is arguably the zenith of Frank Drebin's adventures in the first two Naked Gun films (and being pleasantly surprised at the punches The Smell of Fear was able to deliver after its predecessor), I was a bit dubious. "How could the last movie in the trilogy measure up?" I thought to myself. Turns out it didn't, so my vindication is bittersweet. It's not just that some of the jokes don't age, it's that they're outright recycled (calling it an 'homage' is far too generous), not just from previous Naked Gun/Police Squad releases, but from Airplane! as well. There are a few positives to this film. The working woman/stay-at-home husband is a very nice inverse of traditional gender norms (even while the romance itself is a not uncommon Hollywood May-December romance); there are also a few effective zingers, and I appreciate the hidden meaning behind the title. However, best to skip this movie unless you're dedicated to seeing the disappointing finale of what is otherwise a great series.

This is the last film in the "Naked Gun" series, the original of which was one of the best comedies I saw in my whole life. I am starting to miss Leslie Nielsen and it's sad that he was in so many awful movies in his later life like "Mr. Magoo", the first film I ever saw that I sincerely hated. At least he got some great ones under his belt. While not as good as the original, this was better than "Airplane II: The Sequel". It's great to have the most famous actor back. It does take awhile to get good, but we do get a great finale eventually. As usual, we get joke after joke most of which are good. It is weird watching this as it's probably the last time we ever saw O. J. Simpson before his infamous trial. I could just go on all day about the best jokes. My favorite might have been when James Earl Jones said one of the films nominated for Best Picture did poorly at the box office. Drebin (Nielsen) finds out that the Best Picture envelope has the literal bomb and says, "It's the bomb!" causing the crowd to cheer. It's great we get some characters annoyed by the wacky antics too. ***

Starts OK, but goes from bad to worse. The last third is pretty Unwatchable. The script can't handle even a short movie of 82 minutes (of which 7 minutes are end credits!). Seems like something went wrong there. In addition, it has too many references to other movies and they are also way too long. There are simply too many cheap laughs.O.J. Simpson and Anna Nicole Smith are simply awful. This is a pretty weak ending to the trilogy, which is a shame since the first movie was hilarious (and IIRC so was the TV series on which it's based).

MOVIE 3 OF 4 OF MY LESLIE NIELSEN QUADRILOGYThe final of the three Naked Gun movies and I can tell they ended on a high note! Leslie and his silver hair once again star as the bumbling cop Lt. Frank Drebin. He has to handle a breakup while trying to defuse a bomb at the Academy Awards at the same time.If you think that's the setup for a hilarious movie, it is. This movie has plenty of laugh out loud moments. Fresh from the other two Naked Gun films, Weird Al Yankovic makes an appearance, along with his 'partner', Vanna White. The president also makes a cameo.Poor Frank can't catch a break, can he? He lost his wife for a while, was forced to go to prison, had to disguise time and time again, ended up in a lousy home with a threatening criminal and his crazy mother, and then he had to defuse a bomb at the Academy, and he realizes that a beautiful woman he kissed is a... well, herm.I really liked the part where the guys in the prison were chanting "We are men! We are men!" And everyone got into a massive fight with hilarious results. I also loved the bit where Jane was at the court, and everybody, and I mean everybody but her was carrying a baby. And also the bit where Frank was flying around and knocked the enemy off the ledge, and when the entire audience facepalmed at the result from Drebin's stupidity. All in all, although still not quite as funny as the first, I gotta give it an 8/10.
