Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.

There is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.

*WARNING - MASSIVE SPOILERS IN BOTH BOOK AND MOVIE AHEAD!!!*Well, we're watching this movie in school because we're talking about donor siblings. There were, give or take, 10 girls in my class, and I think all of them cried at some point. But I just sat there, mouth agape, wondering how this movie could be worse than "The Notebook".Its main problem is that it doesn't really follow the book at all. In the end of the book, Anna is involved in a car crash after winning her case and, while she is brain dead, her lawyer, turned attorney, makes an arrangement to give Kate her sister's kidney. Kate recovers but Anna dies. In the movie, Kate dies. There, that's it. Maybe they thought Anna's death in the book was too upsetting for the movie, and by all means I can understand that, but it's a core part of the book that Kate recovers. It would have given the movie a feel-good look, that cancer doesn't always equal a death sentence. Instead, they kill off Kate, and it doesn't feel right.Cameron Diaz isn't very convincing either. The movie seems much more interested in making you cry than giving a story that seems believable. All in all, this isn't the worst movie I have ever seen, but there are some very major flaws. I wouldn't recommend it if you're a big fan of the novel, because they botch it up here in the movie.

My Sisters Keeper is a very emotional, touching film. Cameron Diaz, Joan Cusack, Abigail Breslin, and Sofia all give great performances here. The storyline was very well told and the movie never dragged it had a nice pacing all the way through. The writing here is very good and it says so much about the characters involved. Kates character here is so lovely and beautiful and it's a joy to see her on screen, especially the scenes that involve her and her love Taylor, I was so happy that she got to have the love of her life before she died, and them making love in that hospital bed was just so sweet and touching. You definitely don't want to be in the mood for a happy go lucky light hearted movie, because this movie is very heavy and deals with so many sad issues. Yes, the ending to this movie is very sad but it is also very meaningful says a lot about Kates character and what kind of person she was. This is not a great knock it out of the park movie, but it certainly is one that I suggest to people looking for a good touching drama. 8/10 for my sisters keeper.

I have been using IMDb for 8 years and this movie made me decide to register for the first time just to review it. Besides "speaking to your soul" and being extremely well acted by EVERYONE, the movie contains so many viewpoints of the same story, which gives it so much depth and you a feeling that you are watching several stories not just one.I appreciate the positive tunes throughout the movie in spite of the gloominess of the plot as is obvious from the very beginning of the movie. Cameron Diaz is extraordinary in this movie, I do not remember having seen her in any similar or similarly serious role. The flashbacks are done very intricately and the movie respects the intelligence of the viewer with little expected revelations and twists here and there. The only reason I gave it an 8 is because I'm a big fan of tough grading :)Beautiful, sad, joyful, hopeful, captivating, loved every minute of it.

I was amazed at the professionalism and heart put into the making of this heartbreaking film. First of all the situation in the beginning is horrifying until you are given the reasons behind the deed. Don't want to reveal this as you have got to watch this wonderful film and fine performances. Directed by the son of film maker John Cassavetes and Gina Rowland, Nick Cassavetes brings such tender yet strong emotions into the fold by the entire cast. There's not a weak link in this.As for the stellar cast, let me start out with young Sofia Vassilieva as the daughter in a family with serious cancer. She ran the gamut throughout the film going through every possible emotion you could think of. Yet it was never done with self pity. Done with honesty and natural feelings a well deserved Oscar should have been given to this actress. She was brilliant. She was also supported by a terrific cast. Namely Cameron Diaz and Jason Patric as her loving parents, Abigail Breslin (Little Mary Sunshine) and Evan Ellingston as her siblings. All gave the extra power to the story in their own ways. Thomas Dekker played a fellow cancer patient who brought a highlight to Sofia as a sort of love interest, but deeper and heartwarming. Add to this Alex Baldwin and Joan Cusack as an attorney and a judge who step in to help the family turmoil. This is a must see film if you ever get the chance. Uplifting and tearful at the same time.
