It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Love Rosemarie DeWitt. Love Emily Blunt. They're the sisters. The plot's nothing home to write about, its all about the interactions, the characterization and the acting - Emily Blunt has a good friend, played by Mark Duplass, basically a kinda jerk, who's going thru 'issues'. She allows him to stay at their family's log cabin, where he assumes he will be alone. But, the sister, Blunt's character's that is, is also there. Hijinks ensue? :-). Maybe. However, she's gay. Within a coupla days, Blunt lands. That's it.All my sarcasm apart, I loved watching the characters interact, in spite of the fact that this is mumblecore kingdom, and nothing much really happens. However, this one skirts the boundary that separates this one from made-for-Lifetime-TV fare, and does that with a flourish. I'm sure it has as much to do with the quality of acting on display as well. Blunt and Dewitt are (if they're not, they should be) every man's (wet0 dream, and putting them in the same movie, in roles that are as meaty as anything can get, is a stroke of genius. Duplass plays the perfect foil for both, and it helps that he's not all painted in white. Each character has shades of grey, that makes us dread about all the hurt that's gonna be going' around, and we want all of these characters to come out happy in the end, and that's pure, dumb naiveté. There are some who'll feel that this plot should have had more meat, but I was OK with what it was about. It's also a good addition to Lynn Shelton's filmography, which includes Humpday (Mark Duplass again) and Touchy Feely (DeWitt again).Perhaps there's no need to catch this one at the multiplex (And I'd argue against that, since the cinematography's right up there - the movie looks and sounds real good), but I'd definitely recommend one viewing.

I kind of enjoyed this film at first. But--Geeze--by the middle of the movie I just felt: "Get away from these crazy manipulative neurotic women, Guy! Run as fast as you can." That he comes back by the end and wants to be part of their lives made me think--'Oh well--this is nothing more than a big Chick-Flick wish-fulfillment fantasy.' --Not real life. The part about the cute younger chick and her untrimmed pubic hair and her easy sleeping around, but now she thinks she loves this guy in the film--who needs someone like her? She doesn't seem to know what she wants or who she is--just more self-indulgent soap opera really. By the end her nuttiness far outweighs her cuteness--ugh!!! In her own way she is as sneaky and manipulative as her older sister. This whole movie had the look and feel of a "Canadian" film. And I can't help wondering if the filmmakers were all Catholics or ex-Catholics--the point of sex and romance in this movie being procreation and Home-building and "Redemption." The Pope would smile.

I am getting very tired of wasting hours of my life watching people "talk". What is it with all this indie snooze fest movies lately? Everything is long and drawn out. I kept tuning the movie out and doing other things because I lost interest. I am supposed to write at least 10 lines in order to submit my review and I honestly can not even figure out what to write because this movies was so blasé. It doesn't deserve 10 lines. Sigh... Lesbians, sperm donor talk, people screwing people for stupid reasons, this is really just all to much for me for to take in. Do people really do stupid things like this? I do not find this believable.

The director did an absolutely great job in my honest opinion. I don't know what they're called but I just like these types of festival films. I loved the acting, it was quite nice and sincere. However, the plot for me was a little too messed up honestly. One twist too much I think. Maybe real life is this messed up, I don't know but I personally feel like it was not a nice family film in that sense. What I really liked however was that it death with real emotion. Whether people are that open, honest or vulnerable in real life is another discussion. Overall, worth the hour and a half, good acting, good scenery, interesting premise/plot. Wouldn't say it's a must-watch but I didn't not like it. Maybe I was expecting a tad more because the trailer seemed so great, but there was just this one character, the sister, that I didn't like. I mean maybe the writer -same woman who directed it- was trying to achieve that but it seemed to me that they were trying to give the impression that all three stars were kinda messed up where I found only the sister to genuinely not be a good person whereas the others were just struggling with life like any person would. The sister and what she did seemed to evil to just simply forgive after a good night's sleep in my opinion. But definitely enjoyed watching it. Good job acting and directing. Not your usual movie. Interesting experience.
