I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

A woman transformed into a giant after she is struck by a meteorite on her wedding day becomes part of a team of monsters sent in by the U.S. government to defeat an alien mastermind trying to take over Earth. The first time i saw Monsters v.s Aliens i thought it was alright but after seeing it again i thought it was pretty awesome there's a lot of good team work, good jokes, nice action and although the drama doesn't work as much as you wanted it to it's still a very entertaining film and i was surprised that Susan was the leading star not because she is a woman or anything but because her character was so interesting in the TV series everyone gets their amount of screen time but in here it's pretty much her and it totally helped me to like her character more and let's not forget all those famous actors that helped bring this characters to life if you like Aliens, Monsters or animation in general you will not be disappointed.

This may not be an all-time animated classic like Bambi or Secret of Nymh, but it's good for passing the time for an hour and a half, which is all I'm sure it was setting out to do. The lead, voiced by Reese Witherspoon, is sympathetic enough to keep us invested in the story. The supporting cast is great and what really makes this movie entertaining. There's Seth Rogen as a living blob of mush, Hugh Laurie as a mad scientist turned giant bug, and even Kiefer Sutherland as a General.Plenty of laughs, especially thanks to Stephen Colbert as the President of the United States. Recommend it if you want something to watch with the family.

Anyone over 5 won't find this entertaining. It's just another animation following the template made by so many other films. If there is any one good thing to say about it is that it has some big stars in it that the more mature audience can relate to. But all in all it is another bore fest that has been spun out. Don't expect Shrek quality in this one. Boring for the mature people, but probably be alright if you are younger and haven't seen or made the connection with other films. The monsters look pretty cool, but are pretty unoriginal. There is some heartfelt moments, but for the most part it's a been there done that affair.

Most everything coming out of Dreamworks is typically clever and enjoyable. Monsters vs Aliens is full of clichés and some illogical sequences. -the dance revolution mechanism that plays a crucial part in accessing or overriding a computer. -clones holding guns, the master yells ATTACK! Why run towards the enemy ready to punch when your holding a gun? So why does very clone is an ear shot of the word attack do this? -no butterfly of that shape could fly. Absolutely no way.The plot wasn't 100% predictable. I didn't expect the government to actually set them free, so was interested to see how they'd handle being on the outsi- ',oh the cliché way. When posing as clones and demanding the prisoner being handed over, I didn't expect the outcome.Only a few moments made me laugh. The screaming secretary/president and the prisoner scene mentioned previously.75% of this movie was spent rolling my eyes.
