Let's be realistic.

... View MoreOne of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
... View MoreYes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
... View MoreTommy Lee Jones is a dry, grouchy, by-the-book Texas Ranger as Sgt. Roland Sharp. He moves into a house with five active girls who are Texas Longhorns Cheerleaders that happen to be murder witnesses, resulting in them being placed in protective custody. Most of the jokes revolve around Jones' effective dry humor and the problems he has as a father seeing young women close to his daughter's age wearing tight fitting navel-baring clothes and the clash of generational values. Eventually they all come to an understanding and the girls look to him as an unconventional paternal figure. There's also a side romance between Jones' character and an English literature professor played by Anne Archer which seems to have been thrown into the story as an afterthought. It's not the best movie but is worth one watch for Tommy Lee Jones' performance alone. 6 out of 10.
... View MoreBecause that's what it lacks... Remember all those annoying characters in Friday the 13-th you were happy to see dismembered in all the ways possible? Well they've come back with a vengeance in this movie at it's nothing worse than seeing annoying stereotypical cheerleaders being them-selves and being proud about it without any kind of payoff. If you absolutely have to watch this movie I would recommend putting on Friday the 13-th or Halloween just right after and imagine all those dumb faces on the victims - it works wonders...This movie fails as a comedy in too many departments to even try to mention them all and Tommy Lee Jones is the only redeemable factor in it, but even he can't do much with such a horrible script and supporting actors.NOT RECOMMENDED.
... View MoreI saw this in theaters with my mom and brother because it sounded pretty good. Only I was wrong. I thought that there'd be a lot of action since it was about a bunch of cheerleaders -- who were your totally average lean, dress skimpy kind of girls -- witnessing a murder. I thought there'd be at least ONE person trying to kill them numerously like in The Terminator or even Die Hard. Nope. Nada. Then here comes Tomym Lee Jones as this sheriff who takes the girls too seriously, making them live with him. The movie got boring. I even asked my mom when the movie was supposed to be over.Yeah, it was that boring. The movie was a little cheesy, since the girls weren't taking the situation seriously (they weren't the girls who saw one Cops commercial on TV to know that they were in a serious situation.) The only action was at the end, but it was lukewarm -- just like the movie.
... View MoreThe Texas Ranger Roland Sharp needs to protect a group of cheerleaders who are the only witnesses to the murder of a man, who is a key figure in the prosecution of a drug king. Sharp will need to live with the girls to his total undercover and to take care of them as well.''Man of the House'' is a silly movie. It is not bad, but for sure it is not an outstanding comedy: I didn't laugh very much, but the movie has nice and positive messages for all the characters. It's that kind of movie that having an option, you would watch something else, but if you don't, it's not going to totally waste your time, I would say. The cheerleaders, most of them stupid and only wanting to go out and date, annoyed me sometimes, with the exception of one of them that is tough and mature ( I forgot her name). But even them learn to be better persons in the movie. By the way, I love Tommy Lee Jones in tough characters! ( Who remembers him in MIB?)
