This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Well, confused would be the word I'd choose to summarize my 1 and a half hour experience with this movie. I mean watching it was pretty tolerable but on the other hand I believe it will be one of the very few movies that I'll immediately erase from my mind. The environment is good. Or at least promising. The introduction to the mental facility is decent and intriguing. Plot is also average. Acting is just OK. Some inmates appear pretty interesting too. But on the other hand I expected way more from an "asylum troubles" movie. Our protagonist is an ice cube, really. He shows no emotion, stays down when more dynamic characters talk and although this may be partially explained in the end, it stills slows down the movie and gets the viewer frustrated by his inability to cope with the environment. Also most (=all) characters aren't sketched thoroughly.Especially some of the "hardcore" inmates could and should be engaged in longer interactions. But the main push-back in the movie is lack of atmosphere. I mean guys we are talking about a MENTAL facility, an ASYLUM, you should be able to make something out of it. I want to follow the characters and feel the pain this place holds in every step they make, I want every little noise to get me on my toes, I want some action to the environment surrounding the main building. Scenes which where probably meant for some nice flicks are literally to laugh for. Concluding, if you expected a nice mental facility horror thing similar to "Session 9" or even "Fragile" seriously do not bother. I don't even know if it's worth seeing in a 3 am hangover situation. I believe it will leave you as empty and as confused as it left me. 4/10 greatly gratituous and mostly because of gorgeous Jordan Ladd

(Average rating between the woman and I, for once we actually agree on a rating) He: OK, so quick cut macabre cinematography in the beginning of the movie does a great job in capturing my attention every time. Add to that an insane asylum (complete with requisite crazy folks), a creepy mannish nurse, and one or two hotties for sexual tension, and you have the ingredients for a sufficiently watchable horror movie. Yeah, as one would predict, the movie contains the overly predictable twist which you're not supposed to predict. The overall plot is a bit ... um ... thin, but thankfully horror movies don't need too much of that. It gets in the way of the killing. She: I love this kind of movie. The psychological part is great. House of madness. The plot is very interesting, actually. It's out of my expectation in the end. Above all, it's a very good movie. If you are into twisted and puzzling movies, this would be your number one choice. You never know what is gonna happen.

Strong horror and a vivid thriller. Slow boiling suspense and a twist that neither makes or breaks the film. Clark Stevens(Joshua Leonard)is a young psychiatric student that arrives for his internship at Cunnningham Hall Mental Facility. Understaffed, outmoded equipment, building in shambles, patients treated subhuman and a mysteriously uncaring director Dr. Franks(Lance Henriksen). Stevens is hardly settled in and a brutal murder occurs causing him to dig deep in the facility's history to uncover suspected secrets. The mixing is notable and those long dark hallways are pretty creepy. There will be a couple of occasions having you leave your seat, but it is the anxiety of waiting for the horrific violence that brings on a hammering headache. Others in the cast: Natasha Lyonne, Dendrie Taylor, Leslie Jordan and Patrika Darbo.

The reason why this movie got into my hands was simply me having to buy for a certain amount of money to get my hands on another movie. New horror has continued to disappoint me, so, naturally, I thought this one would as well. I have to say that I was wrong.Clark Stevens is the name of our hero, doing his practice at at Cunningham Hill, a mental hospital which seems more like a place to keep the insane instead of helping them. This is, at least, what Clark thinks and he's more than eager to change things. A murder, a mysterious boy and an equally mysterious patient later, making changes in hospital policy becomes a secondary problem. You probably get the idea, this is a classic plot, classic character and all the classic twists and turns. And no, it doesn't make this film worse, it makes it better. Because for some reason, I get an old-school vibe watching this history unfold. There are scares. There is some blood. And there's actually some frightening scenes (especially a dream-sequence). In these Saw-horror days, it's really refreshing to see a movie that doesn't try to be something it's not. This movie doesn't try to outsmart you. You can probably figure out the end pretty quickly, but that doesn't keep you from wanting to see what happens. In other words; this is a good, plain horror movie. Well worth the 3, or so, dollars I spent buying it.
