Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

LOVERS LANE is a low rent slasher movie filmed in Washington state and with much in common with the genre circa the 1980s. Certainly it lacks the self-referential knowing attitude of the genre post-SCREAM as well as the graphic kind of gore scenes that the likes of URBAN LEGEND featured around the turn of the millennium. The reason this film is so humdrum is that it was made on a very low budget, just one step above a shot-on-video level I should imagine. This film's professional cameras are the most interesting thing about it because the rest isn't really up to par. A town still haunted by a series of historical murders is put through the ringer once more when the killer starts up again. The characters are dull even though the filmmaking qualities are a little better than expected. Anna Faris stars, just before she achieved fame with the SCARY MOVIE series.

Hook-handed killer is out to slice a bunch of parking teens.Unimaginative and completely lack-luster teen slasher is even less than one would expect it to be! One would expect it to be a clichéd film, but at least in an entertaining way. This film just mindlessly throws scenes at you and expects them to entertain. It only becomes tiresome. After BETTER teen thrillers like Scream (1996), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Urban Ledgend (1998), and Cherry Falls (1999) one would think this movie would try a new angle but it only rehashes more of the same and with disappointingly less effect. It's not a complete BOMB, thanks to a few solid cast members, but it's certainly the lesser of the 90's slasher flicks.* 1/2 out of ****

When i first saw this i saw it with my friend on Austar and thought it was good for a low budget horror flick, with popular actress Anna Farris best known for her roles as Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie 1,2 and 3. I have recently bought this on DVD and thought it was excellent. I agree with others this show is better than expected. 9 out of 10

Killer escapes from a mental asylum after 13 years and heads out to a small town's local lovers lane with a hook in tow to murder the teenagers who are having sex or drinking. A teen film that is nowhere near as slick as many of the other teen horrors of the late 90's. This film with a classic premise, features a grainy feel that adds to the realism and makes the film scarier and more exciting then it should be.Rated R; Sexual Situations, Nudity, Graphic Violence, and Profanity.
