A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

This is the worst film I've reviewed for Slasher Month. It's one of the dumbest movies I've seen in a long time. When hearing about the mere mention of the title, I was at least eager to find out how the leprechaun would even get into space. It turns out we never find out! The movie literally opens with him already in space with his space bride. I'd think that would be something important to mention. There's this one scene where it looks like a guy is trying to help the leprechaun but he's trying to trick him and it fails. Later, he does the same thing with another guy and it's the exact same thing! I'm just amazed at how stupid this movie can get. There's this one strange cyborg that's transformed into a giant spider. At the film's climax, the leprechaun turns into a giant. All of this really happened. I thought they'd at least show the leprechaun on other planets but instead he's just stranded on a single spaceship. Does this take place in the future or something? How does this fit in with the other movies? The leprechaun gets blown up twice and somehow reforms. He blows up again at the end but his hand is still alive so I guess he's still not quite dead. Oh, and a woman becomes topless for no reason whatsoever other than that it's her people's way of showing a death sentence. This film is just idiotic bit after idiotic bit and I could go on all day about how stupid everything is. It seems like they just took random pieces of paper with plot points written on them and shot them out of a cannon to collect them to make some kind of story. The only upside is that it is the first slasher movie I've seen where the villain uses a gun. Even then, he doesn't kill anyone with it. *

Released to video in 1997, "Leprechaun 4: In Space" takes place in the future where a group of space marines travel to a distant planet to stop a power-hungry Leprechaun (Warwick Davis) from harming a Dominian princess, Zarina (Rebecca Carlton). The Marines' civilian boss is a mad scientist by the name of Dr. Mittenhand (Guy Siner). When the Leprechaun eventually manifests on the vessel havoc ensues. Brent Jasmer and Tim Colceri play the main Marines while Jessica Collins plays a scientist who accompanies them. Debbe Dunning and Gary Grossman are also on hand.I've only seen the first four Leprechaun movies and this is my second favorite after "Leprechaun 3." As a low-budget horror/comedy, you have to take it for what it is to appreciate it. Davis is thoroughly entertaining as usual as the eponymous imp and the filmmakers assembled a quality cast who take it all tongue-in-cheek. The Leprechaun rebirth scene is particularly effective, both funny and perverse. The way Dr. Mittenhand de-morphs is also done well while Carlton & Collins are definite highlights as Princess Zarina and Tina. The movie runs 95 minutes and was shot at Front Street Studios, Los Angeles.GRADE: B or B- (6.5/10 Stars)

The Leprechaun goes to space and finds a princess to marry in "Leprechaun 4: In Space". The plot... well I guess the Leprechaun is out searching for a bride (like he was in the second film), and he finds it in a beautiful space princess. Problem is that there are soldiers on a mission to kill aliens who ruin his date with the princess. They arrive on the planet and take the princess on their ship, so the rest of the film is basically the leprechaun running around trying to claim his future bride. Meanwhile, our cast of space soldiers and medical staff realize that the woman the brought on board their ship is royalty, so there is some money involved in bringing her back to the king. That's basically the jist of it...This movie is a FLOP when compared to the Vegas sequel. This has no laughs, no interesting kills, and no rhymes from the Leprechaun! The plot is very strange, it's almost as if it shouldn't be a sequel to the other films. It's more of a stand alone sci-fi film than a Leprechaun movie. The main plot point about the film is the princess, we have the lep trying to get her and the space people trying to keep her safe. Problem is that the film does a terrible job making her likable at all, so you don't really care if she is okay or not. Then they throw in some weird scenes with a doctor who is machinery from the neck down, he has got to be one of the strangest characters in horror history. His goal is to drain the princess of her blood (I think?...) and do some sort of experiment in order to get his whole body back. I don't know, it didn't make a lot of sense. The acting is bad, except for Jessica Collins who plays the lead female character and Warwick Davis of course. The makers of this fourth REALLY missed the mark by taking out what made the first three work - THE HUMOUR! There is none of it in this film. I think they tried to be funny in some of the scenes, but it isn't at all.Leprechaun 4 is just a strange sequel in a franchise that I enjoyed up until this point. It didn't make a lot of sense, the character's were dreadful, and they didn't use the Leprechaun character enough. His dialogue (which was usually witty) was generic, and you could almost tell that Warwick Davis wasn't into this one as much. What is it with horror sequels in space? Critters 4, Hellraiser 4, Jason X... all failures because they took the core of their respective franchises and tried to add an overwhelming science fiction element to them. 'Leprechaun 4: In Space' is no exception to that.4/10

Don't you just hate it when a movie-series for no reason ventures into space. Lots of long running horror movie series did this and even James Bond did it with "Moonraker" but I have to say that this is probably one of the worst 'in space' sequels. This movie makes absolutely no sense. Why, for whatever reason, is the Leprechaun suddenly living on a far off planet in outer space? This movie has basically absolutely nothing to do with any of the previous movies and it doesn't ever slightly attempt to connect with any of them. No pot of gold in this one, no silly rhymes. Only thing that this movie has in common with all of the previous ones is that it stars Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun. At least he looked as if he was still having fun with it all. It's obviously of course also a far from original movie but this is not the biggest complaint. The movie could had really worked out and could had at least been entertaining fun to watch. It purely relies on its main premise of having the Leprechaun character set aboard a space craft this time. Sounds like an entertaining enough idea on its own, also since it has some space marines thrown in the mix but the movie just never works out and gets no way fun because it's all so poorly done. The movie is so bad that it's not even fun to watch. At least the other Leprechaun movies had some entertainment value in it but I only just wanted this movie to end. The movie has some bad characters, played by some equally bad actors. You just never care about any of them and you also just don't like them. They often do some very unlikely things, that just don't make sense once you start thinking about them. What exactly was the Guy Siner's character motivation, that obviously was an evil one but it made no sense what he did at the end, after his 'transformation'.It's a real cheap looking movie, with some plastic sets and some non-existing special effects. The make-up effects are still being as good as ever though. No way I ever want to watch this movie again.3/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/
