I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The Kevin Sorbo family is handsome enough and the acting is workmanlike; but the screenplay, the story, by Sorbo's wife Sam, is lame, stupid really. Dr. Sol Harkens is an author who is celebrated as the World's Greatest Atheist. He is funny and entertaining and aggressive, and he sells a lot of books. He is also a womanizer and an alcoholic, looking for trouble. And he finds it, in a predictable automobile crash and a predictable coma. He has a vision, a near death experience, wherein he talks to his son David, a beautiful boy who was taken to God before his ninth birthday, and due to which Sol has reacted by hating God. So, for starters, Harkens is not an atheist at all, he is a believer who is very angry at God for taking his son from him. But atheists do NOT hate God, atheists do not believe that God exists. No atheist whom I know became one because of an awful experience, they just finally - mostly in their late teens - reacted to the utter lack of evidence for God. Second, the atheists that Sol Harkens is caricaturing -- the New Atheists - are none of them womanizers or alcoholics (well, Hitchens liked to drink as I recall). And finally, the story seems to suggest that: if only atheists had near death experiences they would see God, see the error of their ways, and convert. It was entertaining enough, but lame, really lame. They should hire a few atheist consultants to see what they really think and believe. But honestly, the audience of this film is not atheists who need to convert, the audience is Christians who need to feel better about their spiritual beliefs. Faith is tricky, and it needs all the support that it can get.

Brainwashing rubbish! Is the usual response of atheist. All atheist do is twist words to fit their own needs (aka. Make themselves feel good). This is a fantastic movie with great acting. But you'll never hear of it due to God hating hollywood. Must see this movie!!

God views your relationship with him as permanent. Referring to all those who believe in him, Jesus Christ said of us, "I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand."Looking at all these facts, one can conclude that a loving God does exist and can be known in an intimate, personal way.

Pure Christian propaganda. Nothing else. No entertainment to be had. Nothing of substance here. A completely empty yet simultaneously ridiculous work that was clearly created by an extreme, die-hard Christian. It perceives atheism the usual way a braindead religious fanatic depicts it, as some sort of evil, distasteful and aggressive group that hates god. An obvious delusion. This is a complete and utter waste of time. Only watch this if you're completely brainless and spends most of your time shaking your stick at those "damn devil lovers!" and want a awful pile of excrement to reaffirm your increasingly irrational and ignorant belief with poorly thought out strawman arguments.
